You say you are using Windows XP 64 Bit SP2.

I long ago had problems with Powerdirector on XP 64 bit. I got a message from support that XP 64 bit is not supported in PD8, I do not know it that has been fixed in PD 10.

Partial Copy of my Support message. Support Message date Jan 19, 2010.

Dear Carl,

Thank you for contacting CyberLink Technical Support.

I understand that you are using Powerdirector 8 and you are facing issue with crashing.

In response to your issue please note that PowerDirector software is not compatible with Windows XP "64BIT" edition.

I suggest you to try the software on Windows XP 32bit or Vista 32/64 bit or Windows 7 in order to resolve the issue.

I uninstalled my XP 64 Bit and installed XP 32 bit, which did solve my crashing problem.

Hi,
I have no knowledge of a 64bit XP system and along with Carl I have nothing good to say (having read quite a few issues) about the old OS re video editing. I personally would not have installed PD in anything other than the default C drive position.

Please contact Customer Support: http://www.cyberlink.com/prog/support/cs/index.do

did you import the mp3 in to Power Director. I know I just bough it this last weeken and I try to drag it of my hard drive to a audio track. That did not work so I try the import and it work just fine. Intel i7 5960X overclock to 4 Ghz 16 GB of ram.

Tuck1940: PD9 and PD10 (can't speak to earlier PD versions as I never used them) occasionally have problems with .mp3 files. Try converting the .mp3 files to .wav format and import those. It should work fine. PD9 and PD10 seem to prefer .wav files.

Hope this helps. Have a great day.

Any custom downloads from Director Zone?? This fixed my problems.

I believe I have found problem for lock ups burn and produce failures.
Last night I did a complete removal of PD with Revo Uninstaller which will also remove hidden files.

On start up of PD 10 I did not fill in Auto sign in to Director Zone.
Last time I did this I set it up to auto sign in and found out when I started my so called clean rein stalled of PD it was full of custom content that I had downloaded before , along with my burn problem.
THIS NEEDS TO BE CHANGED once downloaded it is imposable to remove these files from PD 10 as far as I can see.

This time there was none.

2nd thing I changed was I did not check (( allow SVRT on single IDR H.264 video.
Which was checked before.

Loaded some video picked a menu and clicked on BURN and it worked great.
First time PD 10 has burn a DVD in over a week.
No problems with producing video now also.

So in short it was either a effected custom content from Director Zone or checking and allowing SVRT on single IDR H.264 video.

I suspect custom content because this is one of the only things I did was download some Director Zone to PD from time burning worked to complete failure in burning DVD.
PD 10 really needs more checking of files uploaded in this area as it would be very easy for someone to upload a effected file.

So I believe problem is in one of the many downloads from Director Zone which I will not use anymore that is for sure.
