Continual Lock-ups During Produce or Burn

I am using the following:

Windows 7
PD 9 version 9.0.0.3305 (most recent I believe)
Serial Number VDE110624-04
.mts files from a Hig-Def Sony Camcorder (SR-11)

My issue is that no matter what I try (updating drivers, re-installing software, working with the PD tech support for over 6 months, etc) I can't produce or burn discs. The software locks up randomly (7%, 27%, 54%, etc) whenver I try to produce or burn and hangs at various points during the process. When this happens the timer counters also freeze and no further progress occurs. I can't take a screen shot as the software locks up but I do not get any error messages.

I have attached my latest DXDIAG and I have plenty of hard drive space and I think enough RAM so I am not sure what the issue is. I know the high def files are probably involved in some manner but I can't figure out what to do and tech support just keeps having me try the sames things over and over.

I have tried to burn very small files (maybe 5 minutes of video) and this has worked but files in the 30 minute range have not (anywhere from 2-3.5 gig files sizes). I know the max I can fit on a single DVD is about 1 hour of high def video but I have not even tried files of this size recently as i wanted to try to avoid the larger file size being the issue but I would think 30 minutes of video should work.

Editing the files and assembling them is pretty easy and I enjoy this process but not being able to prduce or burn discs has become a dissapointment.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

What video card do you have? I had a similar same problem on a new install of Win7. I updated all drivers and still no luck so I bought a new video card (Nvidia GTX550) to replace me Radeon 4850 and problems went away.

The only thing I would recommend is stop burning Disks.

Burn disk Folders to your hard drive. If you have a successful burn, you can then use disk authoring software to burn the actual disks.

I use Nero, but there is lots of disk burning software available.

Imgburn is free and can be found on the internet.

I have not burned a disk using Powerdirector in years.

I burn a Disk Folder only, my success rate is near 100%.

Timothy's original question was posted on 30 December, 2011 - 2 months ago - and has received only one response (Edit - OK - 2. Carl just posted one)... despite the fact that he posted his DxDiag & it's been viewed at least 30 times! Makes a bit of a joke of some comments that have been posted in these pages. He'd also spent 6 months dealing unsuccessfully with CL Tech Support. I wouldn't be surprised if he's jumped ship!

Hopefully, something has been resolved for him, even if it's with other software!

Timothy - there's nothing in your DxDiag that would indicate (to me) that there's anything lacking with your PC... certainly nothing that would STOP you producing or burning. Maybe your GPU might slow up the works a bit.

Anyway - not much point going into it, since you're probably happily producing & burning somewhere else now!!!

KENNETH - why don't you post your DxDiag, like Timothy did? and give some more detail of what's happening at your end. That would help people help you.

Cheers - Tony
