Hi
I have rendered a lot of Mpeg2s (hundreds) to disc with PD8 and have had 100% satisfaction (never had a coaster). Its the most dependable software I have ever used!
Now the bad news...got PD 10 Ultra a couple of weeks ago, have updated latest patch 1129a and find it very glitchy.

-Burning DVDs often gets to 90% then continues with time counter but never get past 90%.
-Sometimes when splitting videos on the timeline there is a big time delay (though at other times its as fast as PD8
- I was rendering some AVCHD to file and whenever I brought up the task manager to monitor the CPU usage the project would freeze. (only a 20 minute film)

I am very busy with videos to render and burn, so at this point I have removed PD10 and gone back to PD8. I'm sure the Cyberlinkers will sort PD10 out eventually and I will continue to read all the forum entries till I see PD10 is stable.

My computer is
Intel i7 2600K
Asus P8Z68 pro
8 gb Corsair vengence 1600
Corsair 120GB SSD (I am usually only burning Mpeg2s with 4200 bit rate and its perfect with PD8
Seagate 1 TB 6gb/s 7200

Seasons greetings
David

Powerdirector 8 was a much simpler program and was only 32 bits.
PD8 can run on computers much less powerful than PD 10 requires.

You have done the right thing, continue to use PD 8 until you have a much more powerful computer.

Thanks for the reply Carl.

Am I missing something or is the Intel 2600K processor not about the best ever produced!!!!!
(I believe the 8 gig of 1600 Corsair ram with the Asus P8Z68 aint no shirkers either)
Also I'm using Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit...a major reason for going for PD10

I'm sure PD10 or maybe PD11 will be great in the future, but it isn't right now Carl. and its nothing to do with my computer spec

I guess it is, but you left off the important part of the description of the CPU.
It is an Intel i7 CPU. 2600 is the model.

It is the eleventh fastest CPU in the Passmark benchmark.

I don't necessarily agree with Carl but I will point out that a system is not dependant on CPU alone I believe you have an integrated GPU your also burning to an optical drive, to remove that as a cause you should try to create a folder first.

There are many things to consider that is causing you issues however, bottom line is I have no issues you describe and I would suggest a great many others don't either.

So it is not helpful to blame the program as the culprit.

I agree with the OP. This program has some serious issues.

My computer has twice the specs of his, and I have non-stop problems.

PD9-Ultra64 was waaaaaaaay better then both 8 and 10

I'm rather liking 10. The uneven update routes from 9 are ridiculous, though. HP Envy Phoenix/4thGen i7-4770(4@3.4GHz~turbo>3.9)
Nvidia GTX 960(4GB)/16GB DDR3/
Canon Vixia HV30/HF-M40/HF-M41/HF-G20/Olympus E-PL5.
Tape capture using 6 VCR, TBC-1000, Elite BVP4+, Sony D8 camcorder with TBC.

I don't get that reference... I worked my ass off to afford my system.

And to add to it, this BS program claims native 3D support, but you can't import seperate Left/Right files into the workflow. The more I use this program, the worse it gets. I'm making a call on Monday, and if they don't have a resolution, I'm getting a full refund.

What you need to say is the program does not work for you, that does not mean it does not work for everybody!

But as your 'making a phone call' it's probably good your just moving on and leaving the rest of us to our torment trying to make this inadequate program do our bidding... Shh don't tell anybody but it works just great for me!

So before you go how about posting the outstanding specs of your computer, I'm sure we'd all like to drool over your mini Cray...

David

Hi,
I am running PD10 Ultra on windows 7 premium 64Bit, Intel i7 2600 3.4Gh processor with 12 GB ram, and Geforce 560ti, 1.5 terabyte hard drive with no problems, in either 3d or Hi def, outputting to both Blu ray and Standard DVD writers.
So go figure....

I don't know what mental issue you have, but i said "the more I use it", "I" meaning me, not everybody, so learn to read.

Plus, everyone always trolls "what r u specs, what is ur dxdiag, blah blah blah" so I simply stated my specs were higher, and i was still having problems. i was not bragging, etc...

and once again, over here in the USA, your phrasing is unknown to me, so why don't u stick to the technical stuff, huh? if you dont have anything to contribute, then shut the F up.

And to contribute further to this thread, when I am trying to render in 3D, i have had the program crash 50% of the time. My drivers are-up-to-date, directx is up-to-date and clean, i have plenty of power, ram and hd space... so, yeah, FOR ME, it works like shit, especially compared to PD9. So, to re-assert my statement, before you started trolling all over the place, I agree with the OP, profoundly.

You have in a number of posts used abbreviations for bad language as if it is acceptable for you to write and get away with doing so. It isn't.

Clean up your language.

Your comments here regarding your PC's capabilities. Please provide your diagnostic data, samples etc on the thread I've referenced.

I have been answering and attempting to clarify what issue you have on the link I've given in this post. I now see you have wandered around the forum giving vent to a view built on your current experiences using PowerDirector 10.

Let me assure you that the problem you have is with your attempts and failures to convert 2 streams of 2D video into 3D manually rather than a failing in the software itself.

So, I request you stop meandering around pontificating a view and concentrate on getting a solution which would result in a 3D video from your DUAL CAMERA GOPRO set up!
