Frozen video segments post production

I have a project which consists of multiple video segments, separated by still images. I have used the cross-over Fade transition effect to transtion to and from the still images.

Everything works fine when playing the movie in the editor. However, when playing the produced (.AVI or .WMV) file, some of the video segments are frozen at their first frame. The audio track plays on, and the following video segment(s) are fine.

Any help to resolve this issue would be greatly appreciated.

Apologies; hopefully the following additional details will help;

OS: Win7 32bit
PD version: Ultra v10.0.0.1012
SR number: VDE110926-01
Source: MPEG-2 capture from DVD (captured using PD)
Anitivirus: Sophos v9.5
Installed Codecs: No separate codec packs installed (that I know of)
Other video editing software: None
Burning software: Cyberlink Power2Go, Windows Media Player, Windows DVD Maker, iTunes
Blank disc used: none; file saved to HDD
Background processes: see attachment
Dxdiag log file: see attachment

Please let me know if I've missed anything.
