ATI Radeon HD 4850, will it work for PD10?

Question for the super computer guru's.

Is it possible to do video editing with a ATI Radeon HD 4850 512mb?

Other comp specs,

6core 2.8ghz AMD
8 gig DDR3
1 TB hd

This card will be in there for 2 weeks, just curious if anyone else runs it or if someone knows the specs well
enough to tell me if it will hold up to the job for a short time.

Previous card in this machine was a HD 5450 which is utterly useless...

Yes! I run ATI Radeon 4850 on a much lesser machine (Intel Core2 Duo @ 3.0 Mhz). I use PD10 Ultra64 after upgrade from PD9 Ultra64.

PD10 has editing issues, but I don't think they are video-related.

You will suffer a little, your video card is on the weak side.
Adding FX, and other intensive editing, will cause lag, etc.
It WILL work, even in HD, maybe using shadow files, and will render projects, albeit, a little slower than you might wish. HP Envy Phoenix/4thGen i7-4770(4@3.4GHz~turbo>3.9)

If you decide to replace your video card, check the power requirements first. Some of those honkers need a lot more power than is typical. Jerry Schwartz

According to the PD10 spec page on Cyberlink's website, the OpenCL-acceleration requires an AMD 5xxx series or better GPU. So from that perspective, your old 5450 was superior to the 4850 (well that, and it consumed much less power because it prevented you from playing any 3d games...)

If you go with an AMD card, I would recommend a 6xxx series, simply because it has a better video-playback engine than the 5xxx series. (For one thing, 1080p60 H264 playback is fully accelerated on the 6xxx series, whereas it was borderline on the 5xxx.)
