Burning 720p hd to DVD

I want to be able to burn 720p videos to a DVD (not blu-ray) using PD10. I seem to recall reading somewhere that this can be done in a format the is playable only on blu-ray players. Is this true? Does is require Ultra or is PD10 Deluxe up to the task? How do I do it?

The easiest way if to use AVCHD as the burn option, you will then be able to select a range of HD formats including 720p AVC & it will let you burn the project to DVD. The resultant disc should play in many (but not all) Blu-ray players as the AVCHD file structure is very similar to that of BD.

The other option is to burn what you want to a "Folder" in PD10 from the BD burn option and then use another tool like ImgBurn to burn these folders to the actual disc.

I forgot to mention, many DVD and BD players will also play a video file straight from CD/DVD/BD discs. To test, just create a file as you normally would, and use another prog to copy to a blank DVD and give it a go. PD 64 Bit-Win10 64 Bit-32GB RAM-80TB HDD

Hi Jim, According the this link http://www.cyberlink.com/products/powerdirector/compare_en_AU.html you will need Ultra to get the BD and AVCHD options in "Create Disc".

Therein lies problem. I have the trial version for evaluation purposes, and there is no AVCHD support in the trial version. I'm ready to purchase ... as long as I know which version I need.

You are safe with the Ultra Version of Powerdirector, Ultra has all of the features, Deluxe does not.
