Many of the example menus have a motion thumbnail in the root menu. Please can you tell me how to implement this as I cannot find how to do this with the menu editor.

This is an auto function and some editor's prefer not to display a motion thumbnail.

Example:
Place the Nature.mpg in the Video track
Move to Create Disc
Select a Menu
Check out the Root menu display
Is it a motion thumbnail, should be?

If I haven't answered your question then you need to show me 2x screenshots of your project.
1. The Edit Workspace with your project showing and full screen.
2. With the Chapter Room open and the Chapter Track displayed.

Thanks for your reply Dafydd.

Yes I know I can use existing menu templates but the problem is the size, position and shape of the thumbnail is not editable. I wanted to create my own menu. I assume that these menus have been created by modifying the xml files as it is not possible in the menu editor.

Hi Trevor,
You've given more detail of what you're after. OK, I'm not comfortable explaining/teaching how to make alterations to script. I would encourage you to experiment and in the process (failure or success) learn how to do this yourself. I'm backing out now.

Dafydd

PS. File substitution can be an easier route for experimentation and results if you want to try that first.

Please can someone give me some clues. First of all it seems the only way to generate dzm files is to "share" them on DirectorZone. Also DZM files are not xml files so I assume they are in some compressed format. Does anyone know how to convert DZM to xml.

The xml for the menus seem to be burried in the application data. The crazy thing is that a root menu with one motion thumbnail is virtally the same as a titles menu in Menu Designer so Cyberlink could easily add this functionallity to the Menu Designer.

OK I found the secret of DZM files. Infact they are RAR files so if you change the extension to rar and double click on it winrar will unzip the file into aload of XML files. Now how to decode the xml!!!
