I don't care if i get blocked and this reply will be blocked or edited anyway but i think the moderator here is very negative on this site. Anything said against Powerdirector is heavily censored or removed. Why is this? Whatever happened to debates? Who cares if we compare other products? Surely that's what forums are all about.

Is there a body above this website where we can complain about the moderator and his heavy heavy censorship ......

alan,

You have to remember that this site is HOSTED by Cyberlink.
Cyberlink pays the expenses to operate this site. There are other video editing forums out there are not sponsored by any software company, and presumably exist on advertising revenue. But this one is paid for by Cyberlink.

If you alan, had a product for sale, and at no small expense, paid a monthly fee to have your own site and forum up and running to promote your product, and for your users to share tips and exchange help. Would you want or allow random people to come on “your” site and advertise another products because “they” (who aren’t even using your product right), think this other product is way better that yours?
Would you pay so others can come on to alert your members of why they should use somebody else’ product?

Gripes, complaints, problems, and relating your legitimate bad experiences with PD is fine, if thoughtfully and intelligently delivered. That’s what this forum is all about. About helping each other resolve issues. But this site does not exist for a few folks, with unknown credentials, to make lengthy comparisons of other brands, or only to deliver a litany of immature rants. Knowing someone else’s opinion about another brand, does a PD8 user like me, no good. Neither does an immature rant. This forum is not the “complaints window”. That’s what Cyberlink Customer Support is for.

We members come here to expand our knowledge of PD, because we know there are some issues, and we may have issues, and many of us don’t have any issues. But we all hope to resolve any problems, and are here to share helpful info based on our experiences. And Dafydd does a great job of keeping this forum focused on just that. So we serious members don’t have to wade through those posts that are only full of opinions and attention seeking antics.

There are plenty of other non-aligned video editing forums where one can go to opine and compare brands all day long with they’re opinions of what they think about the state of the consumer video editing industry, and why they think this brand is better than that brand.
But this forum is a place for PD users to come and ask questions about how to use their PD, and for members to volunteer answers to those questions to try to help out a fellow member with tips, workarounds, and advice.

It’s really not a hard concept to grasp.

Fair and honest comments about a problem with a product are not generally censored, in my view. There seems to be a few people who come on here regularly just to bash PD with no foundation for their claim. They come on here and talk about how bad PD sucks and refuse to ever tell us what they are having problems with. Those will, and should, get edited or deleted. __________________________________

I would love to check the video editing capabilities, now if 2220 would stop locking up just trying to start the Capture from DVD process, it w/b grand. I can copy / paste my specs, or you can see them in the Compatibility List post, I say, let's conserve electrons...

OK Michael,

- What are your computer’ specs?
- Do you have enough horsepower to do what you’re trying?
- Can you just Copy the DVD files to your hard drive and then Import to PD?
- Do you have all the correct codecs in your rig?
- Do you have ffdshow?
- Have you cleaned your temp files lately?
- Have you defragged lately?
- Is your DVD copyright protected?
- What kind and brand of graphics card are you using?

The more info you post on your system and workflow and problem, the better chance you’ll get of someone possibly being able to suggest something.

Hi Guys,
Can someone help with my BIG problem. I got this Chrysler and I've managed to sit in it and it won't go. Why has it only got 2 pedals all my other cars had three? I had a Ford that had three but it went real slow and a stupid guy on the ford garage said something about the handbrake being on, yeah right. I read a review about Honda but they don't do twin turbos which I really need. Why can't I stand in the Chrysler outlet and tell everyone that MY chrysler won't go and it's only got 2 pedals, despite some other folks saying something about auto and that they're OK with theirs. Well I'm NOT. The Chrysler guy asked me to stop shouting at everyone and maybe then someone can explain things. But I know I bought a Chrysler that doesn't work like I thought it should so I want someone to answer me. I'm going to complain to the big garage in the sky about Chrysler and I'll tell everyone how much Chrysler/ford/honda/toyota/jaguar/landrover/hyundai/mazda/yawn yawn sucks.

Answer:
Please remember that this forum is based on constructive interaction between users. No one here owes anything to another member - new or old. Cyberlink hosts the forum but do not play an active part in it. The moderator has a job to do within a set of "rules" that seem to work OK most of the time. Most of us do not blindly support CL but have chosen to use PD and get the most we can out of it by joining with others to deal with the bugs, problems, workarounds etc.

If you have a problem, please explain it as much as you can and allow others to suggest things that might help. Please also do some basic research, if at all possible, to avoid the same question being raised many times.

I, for one, am not the least interested in your opinion about something unless it is constructive and relates to the specific point. Nor would I expect you to note my opinion about my Chrysler/ford/honda/toyota/jaguar/landrover/hyundai/mazda/etc etc.

Alan
Most of your posts seem to be solely centered around your expectations and why PD doesn't meet them, coupled with a bit of "why can't I say what I want"

Adrian -

Entertaining though your post is, and as much as it brings some Christmas cheer to the forum, I'd venture to suggest that, in the spirit of global energy conservation, you might have said the same thing, in a far more comprehensible manner for you intended audience, in a single monosyllabic, four letter word.

Yes - it could be argued that the above sentence is, perhaps, rather longiloquent... but you get my meaning.

Cheers - Tony

1. The forum rules, I helped drafted them, all members agree to them when they join.
2. I'm in charge of the PowerDirector forums.
3. The forum's focus is video editing with PowerDirector.

Carsten, Jaime, Tony and Adrian have answered exactly how this forum operates, each in there own style.

I dislike deleting posts but will take that course of action against any individual who fails to abide by the rules of the forum. I expect polite interchange and expression, a well mannered forum. I manage this forum with firm fairness and I encourage editors to participate.

Thank you for reading my post.
