alan,
You have to remember that this site is HOSTED by Cyberlink.
Cyberlink pays the expenses to operate this site. There are other video editing forums out there are not sponsored by any software company, and presumably exist on advertising revenue. But this one is paid for by Cyberlink.
If you alan, had a product for sale, and at no small expense, paid a monthly fee to have your own site and forum up and running to promote your product, and for your users to share tips and exchange help. Would you want or allow random people to come on “your” site and advertise another products because “they” (who aren’t even using your product right), think this other product is way better that yours?
Would you pay so others can come on to alert your members of why they should use somebody else’ product?
Gripes, complaints, problems, and relating your legitimate bad experiences with PD is fine, if thoughtfully and intelligently delivered. That’s what this forum is all about. About helping each other resolve issues. But this site does not exist for a few folks, with unknown credentials, to make lengthy comparisons of other brands, or only to deliver a litany of immature rants. Knowing someone else’s opinion about another brand, does a PD8 user like me, no good. Neither does an immature rant. This forum is not the “complaints window”. That’s what Cyberlink Customer Support is for.
We members come here to expand our knowledge of PD, because we know there are some issues, and we may have issues, and many of us don’t have any issues. But we all hope to resolve any problems, and are here to share helpful info based on our experiences. And Dafydd does a great job of keeping this forum focused on just that. So we serious members don’t have to wade through those posts that are only full of opinions and attention seeking antics.
There are plenty of other non-aligned video editing forums where one can go to opine and compare brands all day long with they’re opinions of what they think about the state of the consumer video editing industry, and why they think this brand is better than that brand.
But this forum is a place for PD users to come and ask questions about how to use their PD, and for members to volunteer answers to those questions to try to help out a fellow member with tips, workarounds, and advice.
It’s really not a hard concept to grasp.
