Barry,
It's a free forum and I can speak my mind. He started very upset about the software "lack of features" and suggesting that it was smohow tricked into buying by "false advertising", when it was in fact his ignorance.
Splattered with venom at Cyberlink and now at me when I pointed that out.

I thought you were done, too bad.
Sure, Nor'easter started out poorly, but in a post or three he was learning, having good productive dialogue, having fun, a welcome new member.
And as for you, you are a seasoned vet here, and you should know better, this is not the first time you have hurled insults at people's skills and equipment.
Yes, it's a free forum, but it's not YOUR free forum. Please restrain yourself.

Yes you've spoken your mind and let us all know what an expert you are - but at what? I'm not so sure. So far, you've insulted me and my equipment. Now claiming that I'm ignorant because I was promised features and didn't get them? You better double check your facts before you shoot your mouth off any further. Google this issue regarding cyberlinks and their misleading advertising regarding what is and what is not included in their packaging and you will see that I am not the only ignorant person on the internet. I also will point out that the rest of my posts have been positive and good natured. So far.

You sir, are ignorant. If your fanboy worship of cyberlink were not so deep, you may realize that cyberlink does not have the best reputation for tech support or customer support, and so most people are forced to trying to find out answers on the forums. Is it a novelty to you that a person goes on a product forum to find out information about said product?

In an earlier post you said you were done. I think you better be because it will only get worse for you from here. If you think me or my gear or my question on this forum are somehow beneath your worldly and supreme presence, kindly do not look at my forum posts any more.

I agree with anyone who just implied that there's no need for personal insults. All it does is cheese people off and doesn't lead to any productive problem solving.

And I don't know about anyone else, but I'd love to access to a "toy" that could capture stunning video footage from almost any position & direction. Some of Nor'easter's low-to the-ground shots looked like dolly shots (but without the dolly). That's what I love about action cams mounted in a myriad of places. I want one! laughing

SoNic - we all have equipment that's in various stages of newness or updatedness. That's not unusual. We may each have a view about what's worthwhile or not, but I don't think it's up to any of us to be personally derogatory about someone else's choices... beyond saying "I think your i5 might struggle with that" Trouble is, once one little jibe is hurled, it doesn't take long to escalate - & pretty soon the original topic is lost.

I guess it is a free forum, but there are rules and protocols intended to help everyone get along.

Cheers - Tony

Hi – you guys…….

So many times I have been seconds away from posting on similar remarks/posts like the last onesin this thread.

As you may have noticed (you must have noticed) there are very, very few womenstaying on in this forum. It is not because women don’t edit- and frankly can be very good at it –but it is because one sees postings like these last ones in this thread. This “discussion” is simplynot necessary, not helping anybody, not encouraging people to join this forum.

SoNic67; What I am about to say is not meant as “personal attacks” at all. It’s just because of observations over time, and you happen to be a member who has posted many times similar things.

People who come in to this forum are editors of absolutely all kinds; from professionals to novices – from young gamers to retired people starting out a new hobby.People have questions about so many aspects of editing – also a lot about tech equipment.

Following your posting, SoNic67, – in a relatively short time span as a member of this forum – your main interest seem to be on the tech side of things. Please correct me…..I have not watched any video from your hand, but I may have missed it of course.

Do you need top of the high end equipment to edit and produce a fairly good video? No.

Is it possible to use laptops for editing? Yes.

It all depends on what and how you edit – where your video is to be displayed.I have been editing for years.Slowly, step by step, using hundreds of hours – I have learned some things here and there, using different software – more or less complex, more or less expensive. In my avatar you see I have been using PDr since 2008, so……

If one is not a professional (i.e. earning money) - editing is a hobby. You have to have some tools to exercise this hobby; this you can buy. But then you have to have ideas, an eye for how to put together things so a viewer will choose to stay watching the video to the end. This – you can not buy. This is something graphic cards, cameras, 4k, drones and walls of TV monitors can’t fix for you.

In some threads I read about all the super, expensive equipment members display and I wonder “what is made / edited with all this gear?” Nor ’easter posted a very nice example and I agree with Tony saying “I want one!”

Young people now a days have the pleasure of going to collage/Uni and choose different kinds of media as subjects. They spend years learning all kinds of equipment and software. They work on location and in studios. What quite a few of these youngsters produce is stunning, breathtaking. And it has to be, really, because the competition for the jobs out there is harsh. These productions are totally out of my league and will stay out of my league, but I so enjoy watching productions elegantly made.

“Your laptop/desktop can’t cope! Do you expect to edit with this PC?”

Again: what am I editing, how do I edit, where is the video to be displayed? Before considering purchasing a high(er) end PC I would certainly ask myself: How much will I be editing? What will I be editing? What will I be doing with the produced videos What can I afford?

In closing this I will remind everyone of us to remember we are a group of people trying to help other people along. We post – or not. We post if we think something is relevant or helping, we do not post if we only have insults to write.

Nina

Hi Joseph -

How long is a piece of string? laughing There are 100+ variants on the i5 CPU. The A4-5000 would be nowhere near as good as the best of them - and just a bit better than the "worst".

Anyway - you really should post as a separate topic because it doesn't relate to the original question. Yes - there was an original question!

Cheers - Tony
