Hi BabIndia,
Thanks for the update. Good to know 2726 re-install fixed the glitch.
I always display the file extensions in Windows.

optodata;

I will do a few more tests on the other "fixed" items and will try this out with my GTX 780 installed to see if there's been any improvement there.

Have you looked at the issue(s) regarding your GTX 780 card?

I can tell you that the delays and misbehaviour in Modify window is worse than ever with this patch.
In addition, the delay and inaccuracy of the regular scrubber on timeline is horrible, just horrible.
(You know the the GTX 770M card)
In short; there is no way I can do any editing with this - and preserve my sanity.

I did read your guide in attempting to "force" the laptop to use a possibly inbuilt card, but as much as I like
editing in PD, I decided not to go to the length of messing about further "inside" the computer to have PD
maybe working. All other applications are working smoothly as they are supposed to.

Nina

Just something.

I have a fix from CL regarding the unlink issue and have been very busy documenting what I've found. In my research I have found the ultimate cause for the unlinking AND a way to repair the clips and I'm putting together a video showing all the steps. I hope to have that finished in a couple of hours.

As for the performance with the 2727 patch, I'm not seeing anything different than from previous versions. It's still unacceptably slow when opening up control windows. However, this version does seem much more responsive when moving the slider in the Power Tools, Video Speed window, for example.

Previously, my sanity was in danger when trying to get an exact speed multiplier because of a 1-2 second delay each time I moved the slider. It might take 5-8 tries to get the $%^& control to stop at 0.32x or 0.48x, and since there's no numeric entry I would sometimes give up and click on the + or - buttons once I was close, but each click took about 2 seconds to register.

With this version, the control's response is much more like it used to be, with no delays when making small adjustments on the slider.

I don't have any issue with the scrubber in the regular timeline, but the project I'm working on has no effects and just clips, titles, 1 SS music clip and a couple fade transitions.

Regarding the instructions to switch to the HD4600 graphics, there's always an option to restore the default BIOS settings if that didn't work. If the option to use the inbuilt graphics is present (which I don't know the answer to), PD would *absolutely* work without the agonizing delays. There's no "maybe."

As you point out, though, you'd be changing the machine JUST for PD. All the other apps would lose the power of your 770, and your other editing programs may suffer. That may be too much of a compromise to get 1 program working, and it sounds like not using PD until a fix is released is the "better" choice. Obviously, we all hope that a resolution is coming soon!!!

EDIT: I am having an issue where v2726 hangs at exactly 60% when saving a project. It has happened 6-7 times over the span of several hours and approximately 100 saves. I have to kill it using Task Manager or if I wait long enough, I'll get the "PD12 is not responding" message and can close it from that message window. I haven't seen a pattern for when it will crash during save, other than maybe it's around the 20th save since the last crash/restart.

EDIT #2: The editor also freezes randomly while working just on the timeline, for example, changing the zoom scale or moving the scrubber. No pattern or trigger that I can see other than the cursor is always stuck as the blue clock with left/right arrows. This has happened 3-4 times over the last day, and only Task Manager can kill it.

Interestingly, TM does NOT show PD12 as "Unresponsive." It actually shows that PD12 is active but not using any CPU resources, but no input is accepted by PD.

Hi optodata;

The more you know....the more you understand you don’t know....

There must be something in PD12 that’s not programmed sufficiently??

Because I am puzzled about the following:
I have an editor from 2010. It was installed on (Asus motherboard desktop)
Win7 64 with a GTX 470 card.
No problems what so ever.
When purchasing this new, stronger laptop :
Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4700HQ CPU @ 2.40GHz (8 CPUs), ~2.4GHz
12288MB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 770M
Win 8 / 8.1
I installed that editor on this one - and no problems what so ever.
It’s the exact same program, 4 years old - living well through newer OS’s, graphic card and
new drivers for the card.

If anything, it’s faster and can carry more load.
I just don’t get it. PD12 was released....what...less than a year ago?

Just something.

Yes, sometimes having just a little knowledge is dangerous

The issue IS that PD is not programmed correctly for the GTX 7xx cards. As end users, unless we change graphics cards we can only report the issue and wait for Cyberlink to fix it.

EDIT: By any chance, are you using PD with a second monitor? My system slows to a crawl if I try to edit with a second monitor running.

I've just finished my video documenting everything about the unlink issue, including a fix! I'll post that in a new thread, but you can watch it here.

Tried the second monitor, and that seems to be actually functioning
without any more further added delays and misbehaviour
than on the laptop monitor.
( I used duplication)

Tried some things.
Uninstalled / Reinstalled PD12 with the latest patch.
Manually removed all old shadow files.

Lockups seem to be less frequent now (but still unacceptable).

Now, I think I'm also running in to the QuickTime file problem as others.
When producing a full HD 30fps video to .MOV, PD12 promptly crashes.
The initial message is 'your computer is low on memory'....which it isn't; 5.88GB used out of 16GB installed.
Then, it states, ICMCompressionSessionEncodeFrame failed.

Googling this, there seems to be a memory leak associated with this, at least back in 2007-2009, there was.

Just a quick check - do you have QuickTime v7.7.5 installed? If not, grab the latest installer here.

Guys, it's time to take the GTX 7** issue to a new thread. It's clearly not fixed in this patch release.

The error seems to be coming from QT from what I've read online. You may want to try completely uninstalling QT and then install it again from scratch.

I would recommend using (free) Revo Uninstaller's Advanced scanning mode and carefully review what it finds. That will clear out all the registry keys and subfolders that can sometimes cause a program to keep some of the unwanted settings.

Revo Uninstaller is excellent, and I used their free version many times before I purchased the Pro version to support them. The Pro version is free for 30 days, so try either one and see if your errors go way with a fresh QT install.

If reinstalling QT doesn't help, uninstall it again and do the same with PD12 and SmartSound. Run the PD installer and let it add SmartSound and QT, then update all 3 with the latest patches if needed.

I'll do that. Thanks.
Recall, the MOV file lockup is recent.
The hang-ups started since the upgrade.....even when trying to do an open/browse for new stills with no video files in the folder, it would hang...Windows Explorer completely for that matter (ie. couldn't open WE outside of PD).
I thought it might be a shell-extension issue, so I removed Real-Player, without any difference.
Thanks.

I recently installed PD 12 Version 12.0.2027.3 (Win 7, Intel i7 Haswell) . It freezes when I try to burn a CD. It says updating Menu and then just stops at 89%. The windows circle stays up and it just freezes. I cannot shut down the program with Cntl-Alt-Delete. It says CAD-Logon process unable to display security & logon options. I have to turn off the computer.
I saw a list of patches, but don't know which to download. Should I download them all or is there a specific patch to fix this ?

Any help will be appreciated, I have not used this software before and am trying to learn. Intel i7-4770K,Asus Z87-A,Actic Freeezer7,16GB,240SATA,3TB WD,Win7 Pro

Hi Paul1945. We need more information. Are you able to download the "CyberLink_PowerDirector_Downloader.exe" file? If so, what happens when you run it? Does it download an older patch?
