Multicam audio analysis fails if sampling rate does not match between video or audio clips
[Post New]
Quote: playsound,

I re-read all your messages. I was intrigued by your mention of K-Lite since you weren't sure it made a difference.

I downloaded it (10.2 mega) - and to my surprise, it did.
When k-lite is installed, PD12 is able to synchronize the original 2 clips.

I do not like installing K-Lite_Codec_Pack.
In the first PD12 installation, new machine I was reluctant to install K-Lite.
I do not remember why, I think something to do with Media Player, just installing.
It is common to attribute any error in PD. but we know PD, using the tools Windowns and others. AMD-FX 8350 / 8GB DDR3

HI Julien Pierre ,
Sorry for the delay in responding to you. I have been monitoring the thread over the weekend and see you've had confirmation of the issue (BabIndia) and a workaround from playsound.

I will report the issue and the workaround and I agree with playsound 's reluctance to install a codec's pack.

You can report a bug to CyberLink via the online tech support: http://www.cyberlink.com/support/index.html

It is best to have a "bug" checked by members by posting on the forum. Members can then test out what you've found and see if they can replicate the situation.

I got lazy with filing the bug, but I'm happy to report that this bug has been fixed in version 3403. Multicam can sync all 3 video clips at 32 / 44 .1 / 48 kHz.

I'm guessing that Dafydd reported it to CL, or the developers started paying attention to this thread.

This is the first time I actually get CL to fix a bug in the current version, so I'm happy to see this happen.

However, separate WAV audio file at 96 kHz against a video at 48 kHz still does not sync.
I still have to downmix the audio file to 48 kHz first for PD to sync the two.

Maybe I will post some further files to demonstrate the issue.

Here are some more files showing the remaining issue.

There is
1) video file with audio at 48 kHz
2) WAV file with audio at 48 kHz
3) WAV file with audio at 96 kHz .

PD Multicam is able to sync the video with the audio file at 48 kHz only, but not with the audio file at 96 kHz.

I downloaded your files, added in PD12, MULTICAN Designer.

At first glance I did not see how to add just the audio to sync with video.

Out of curiosity I opened in PD13 and it worked perfectly, see image.

It's not what you want, please more details.

Note:

After synchronizing the audio, Enable better audio track.

If you select two or more audio tracks, there will be the sum of the audios.

May need to act on the volume controls each track to have a good volume level.

In PD12 you have to use the "Import audio" button in the Multicam designer to synchronize a video file with an audio file.

Thanks, this looks quite different. I don't think "Sync by audio" is really a new function, there was "Import audio" in PD12.
But it looks like they have fixed the sync case with 96 kHz audio files.

I have to admit that I haven't tried PD13 yet. I downloaded it but I have just been too busy with work lately to try it. If this works correctly now, then it may be worth upgrading.

Does PD13 also allow producing a video with 96 kHz LPCM audio in it ?
PD12 does not, so using the 96 kHz audio file is not really all that useful in PD12, even if it could sync it.

Julien

So I finally took a look at PD13.

What I was talking about is the "Multicam designer" which was the only way to synchronize audio and video in PD12, and is still available in PD13.

See the pic of the "multicam designer" attached in PD13.
In this screen, you can click "import audio" and then "audio analysis".
This same "multicam designer" was already available in PD12.

Except in PD12, syncing a video 48 kHz video with a 96 kHz WAV file fails in "Multicam designer".
But in PD13, it works.

PD13 also adds the ability to "sync by audio" in the timeline, which is the screen you showed.
That is indeed very nice, and much better than using "Multicam designer" to make a composite video.
This is especially useful when using more than one camera and syncing with audio. This is the way it should have been all along.
I believe this may be worth the price of upgrading to PD13 with the current Halloween promotion.

However, I still can't find any way to produce a video file with embedded 96 kHz audio.

In the profile, when I select "audio" and "LPCM" the only option is 1536 kbps which is 1536 /2 (stereo) /2 (16 bit) / 8 (bits per byte) = 48 kHz.

I would like to be able to use 96 kHz 24-bit stereo audio, which is a 4608 kbps rate - the rate of the source material.
I can do that thing in Sony Moviestudio Platinum 12 . I still can't do it in any version of PowerDirector

Of course, Moviestudio Platinum 12 is otherwise slow as molasses for encoding, and doesn't have any of this nice multicam editing.
