Hi guys! So I initially went on this forum because I too had the issue of the green screen. I currently have PD 13. I changed the value from 7 to 9 and it worked great!! Thanks!!

Buuuttt....I don't know if anyone else experienced this, however now the playback preview is very "choppy" and not smooth. Is there a fix I can do for this choppy playback? (I am not a computer savy person, so the more detailed the instructions the better Thank you soo much, much appreciated!!)

Stephanie,
welcome to the forum.
Your post of thanks is appreciated by members here, but you conclude with a query into performance. This is unrelated to the topic of the thread, so you should start your very own topic so you get the attention you need. There are many reasons why playback might suffer, video editing is a very hungry beast. It's best to go to This links to instructions and provide for us Part A and Part B so we may better analyze the hardware you are using.

Quote: Hi again guys, Just to let you know that I found out how to change the vmr (sorry for my previous typo) from 7 to 9.
AND IT WORKS for PD11. Thank you so much, Adrian. For other users info my laptop came with PD8 installed and the vmr9 setting does not work for this, it needs vmr7. For other novices, this is how to change the value (be careful not to change anything else onscreen!)
- In Windows 8 press the Windows button + R
- Type regedit and ok it
- navigate (by double-clicking) to:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Cyberlink\PowerDirector11
- Scroll down list to find 'Videorenderer' and click on 'vmr7' to change value
- change 7 to 9 and OK
- close window and you're done!

Sorry to experienced users for simplifying this but I'm really happy to have found this solution from Adrian (vn800rider, thanks again) and thought other nexbies might find it useful.
Cheers, Tony.

I tried this and nothing gives me the option to change from 7 to 9. I'm in windows 10. Any ideas?

It's no different in Windows 10. On the screen pictured, double-click the "VideoRenderer" entry and change the value.

Caution. Mistakes made in changing the registry can cause Windows to fail.

I did this but it didn't work, still green. Should I reboot? The playback is also very sitcky and choppy, even at the lowest res playback. It wasn't like this before I updated to Windows 10 . Uggh

Windows 10 has some "isssues" with drivers - especially video drivers. It will install what it thinks is the latest, automatically.

To keep it from doing that, read this... blocker

How do you roll back to the prior driver? Nothing says video adapters. Sorry I'm not good at this stuff. Thanks for the help.

It's the DISPLAY ADAPTERS branch.

Expand it, then double-click the name of your video adapter, then click the DRIVERS tab. You'll see a ROLL BACK button.

The roll back button is greyed out. Doesn't let me click on it.

That would mean that you did not install the suggested driver. After downloading it you must double-click the file, and the install will proceed. Test that, then report back.

I updated the driver but nothing changed. When I play video clips from the palette, they are clear and play as they should. Perfect even in HD. Once they are moved down into the timeline is when they don't play smoothly and they are completely greened out.

Just to clarify, you again tested both the VM7 and VM9 settings for the VideoRenderer?

That is an Intel driver, and it may be the latest. Apparently the assumption that you have a NVidia video card was in error. Apologies.

Here's is the Intel site, where you can check, and perhaps join a forum where other Intel users share their insights re optimal settings for those adapters...

Yes, I have PD 12 Ultimate 12.0.4210.0. Should I upgrade to PD 13? I was just worried to do that because I also tried editing my work on my laptop and nothing would open and it said it can't be opened because the version on my laptop was older than the version I created it with. Which is ridiculous. So I don't think I can edit what I started if I go to 13.
