Kmot,
All computer software is very sensitive to differing computer environments. This is not unusual, but it is frustrating. It makes troubleshooting software problems a very imperfect science.
I am currently using PD10 v.1703 and PD9 v.3305. Some things work in one but not the other. I sometimes find that I have to do certain parts of projects in different versions.
One has to learn to find and then work within the limitations of the software on each individual platform.
There are so many things that can go wrong when one starts editing video, more so now with the variations in High Def files, and the addition of the 3D variations make it that much more stressful for systems to cope. Sometimes the very latest and fastest of the systems have the same problems as the lesser powered systems.
I am still using XP 32bit and find things relatively stable. Will I be switching to 64bit? Yes. I am missing out on some of the more advanced features and I have to work in smaller chunks to acheive my desired results.
As I was told many years ago, computers only understand two things, on/off (1 or 0). Put one of those figures in the wrong place and you will get some very undesired results. This is more apt to happen the more complicated the number crunching becomes. Video editing deals with more number crunching than almost all other consumer software on the market.
