Should I start a new thread about what video card to buy?

I am prepared to spend up to £140 max.

Starting a new thread would make the subject easier to discuss.

140 Pounds may be on the low end of the price range for a good performing Video card for editing.

This link is the Video Card Benchmarks. Check out the High end Video Cards.

Prices are in USD and are Manufacturer's suggested price. Most cards are lower than the price in the chart. Carl312: Windows 10 64-bit 8 GB RAM,AMD Phenom II X4 965 3.4 GHz,ATI Radeon HD 5770 1GB,240GB SSD,two 1TB HDs.

Hi Rob1965,

Speaking of SSD's here is a great link regarding tweaks that SSD's need to keep them in top form, like they do not like being defragged. This information is about 9-12 months old, it is so hard to keep up when you are at the bleeding edge.

Also if you have a spare week to while away here is another link with 51 pages of what people think of SSD's.

Thanks for that link Carl.

I notice that you have a HD 5770 1Gb & Ultra64. Is that card sufficient?

Thanks for that link Carl.

It is sufficient, but it is getting long in the tooth, there are better Video Cards now.

I can not use Hardware Acceleration with PD9, I could use Hardware Acceleration in PD8.
Powerdirector 9 and the ATI driver are not being friendly.
I have Catalyst 11.8, so the driver is up to date.

Powerdirector 9 for some reason is having problems using Hardware Acceleration with both AMD and Nvidia cards.
If you search this forum, you will find a lot of posts on hardware acceleration not working correctly in PD9.
