Hi

The updates/patches are cumulative. In other words you do not need to install all patches.

I have read on the forum that some members have experienced difficulty in installing this patch.

I believe the solution was to do an uninstall of PD9 before you install the patch.

Good luck Happing editing

Best Regards

Neil

Thanks Neil for the feedback. Re the word that some have had difficulty installing this patch: Hmm, I may consider just waiting for the next patch then. It took so long to get this thing to sort of work that I am afraid to touch it for now!

The patches seem to come out quarterly or so from what I see.

Hi Garytravlr,
Please can you provide sample clips (5 to 10 seconds long) which you used on your (optimus) system.

I have reported the situation to CyberLink and they're testing Optimus systems out and would like to try and recreate your set up - then provide a suitable remedy.

my ref: report item 201.

Neil: I believe Adrian observed a Wave Editor update in patch 2504 which wasn't carried forward in subsequent patch builds. When i get a few minutes I'll redo my updates as I installed P2Go7 which reverted my WE to an earlier build. 2930 did not correct the situation.

Hi Dafydd, I'll be glad to. However, I'll try to do it in the next couple of days. I am not in a place where I can do it from where I am at the moment.
Gary
PS: Disabling the optimus worked. It would be nice though if I could use the Cyberlink software without having to disable the Optimus, of course.

Hi Gary,
I realise you have everything working but please read through the data and confirm etc, your help is appreciated.

Following my report on the Optimus/Nvidia and PD9 issue:
Item: 201
Please reference: http://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/17598.page#90983
Are the Nvidia settings shown in the pdf the same as what your set up is?
Please confirm you have carried out the same method as described in the pdf.
Thanks.

CL are also requesting a sample clip from you please, 5 to 10 seconds long, unedited attached to your reply please.

CL are still investigating.

Hi Dafydd,
Sorry I was AOL--I did not have internet access for a few days. Just got it back. First, while I am glad to send a file, it is irrelevant. The issue is not the file type, it is the import routine bringing files into the PD9 program in the first place. All files were unable to be imported, regardless of type or size. This included even a simple jpg photo file. At first, I thought the problem had something to do with my AVCHD type video files. But then I tried mpg and mpeg2 files and the same freezing issue occurred on the import routine.

Also, I tried the link you gave above, and I don't know what you want me to look at. It is another user having problems with his Dell XPS computer. I don't see anywhere for settings as you described. I read the entire discussion.

Anyhow, I have been successfully editing files since I disabled the Optimus technology from the BIOS screen. A Dell tech support representative directed me to do this. He said the slight hit to battery performance will be very minimal, and the headaches caused by this ineffectual Optimus Technology eliminated.

I certainly appreciate the attention, interest and pursuit of the answers. Personally I have zero faith in the CL tech support. They were non-responsive until I complained for each round of message exchanges. When each time they finally responded, their "support" was absolutely useless and irrelevant to the problem. I am not even sure if they read the problem I described--one time I was asked for a "Pack Project". This is idiotic since I could not start a project without being able to import files, so nothing to pack and send! After 2 weeks of this nonsense, I tried this board (my first time ever using a board actually).

In 4 hours on this board, I got the lead for the solution.
Sincerely
Gary
PS: I still have dodgy internet access (I am traveling in a developing country for a while). So if I don't immediately respond, I'll definitely do so when I can.

Hi Gary,
the link should direct you to my post which has a pdf attached - you'd need to download to view it. Ok, I understand the situation which i'll relate back to Cyberlink.

Note: You were dealing with the external service provider for online support. The Optimus set up would have been new to them and their staff. We are dealing with CyberLink's main staff and R&D section, they do respond.

If you could copy'n'paste the Dell tech's support information I'll pass that along to CyberLink, might be of use.

Hi Dafydd
In the case of Dell's support information, there is nothing to attach and pass on. I was given the advice verbally and it is related as in my prior post. I purchased the extended and premium support and so my consult on this by telephone. The Dell support guy instantly knew the problem when I described it. Apparently the Optimus Nvidia cards cause a lot of support calls for various problems.

Just refer the CL tech to my post. Also, even though the guys you are communicating with are good, they should hear the poor service given the normal customer of theirs.

Also, I appreciate the pdf info, though I still don't see it. I am going to stay as I am with the optimus disabled. I don't care to have this technology. Also, I have sent in an email to the tech guy at Dell asking him to recommend a new video graphics card for my computer. I might chuck the Nvidia later this year and get a decent one. The Nvidia is a poor performer and has lousy ratings.

Ah, I should have no problem now finding
Thanks and again, I appreciate the attention to my hopefully past problem with PD9.
Gary
PS: I had tried the basic part of what is shown in the PDF before I talked with the Dell tech support. It did not help. When I told the Dell tech guy about doing this, he said it was ineffective and that it was better to just disable the Optimus technology altogether via the Bios.
