PowerDirector 9 Ultra - final production seems "jerky"

Have now had my 64-bit issues resolved, have had the ATI drivers updated and have had K-Lite including Haali uninstalled. Have now re-loaded PD 9 and all seems to working well, so far - no freezes, no crashes.

So, assuming this state of affairs continues, my next question concerns updates.

I see there are a number of patches for PD 9 available. Can I assume that the patch showing the most RECENT date incorporates all the updates from the previous patches, or do I have to load each patch / update separately, and in date order (oldest first)?

Thanks.

As Jim says patches are cumulative, but it's worth noting that there is a potential peculiarity re WaveEditor.

Full release 2316 included the WaveEditor

From memory either full release 2330 or patch 2504 included an update for the WaveEditor. Both have the WaveEditor install files but I can't recall which had the update.
Patch 2702 does not include the WaveEditor and assumes it is already installed.

Some folk had issues with the WaveEditor installation and therefore even after the latest patch still had no WaveEditor.

I currently run 2330 without the WaveEditor installed. As posted elsewhere the WaveEditor can be manually installed.

Cheers

HI Bob,
You should have the latest full build which would be 2701. Note that 2702 is the patch build number. Both are the latest versions.

Please see a few new guides i have just finished creating.

Dafydd et al, thanks again, as always.

FYI, the Build No of my PD 9 as currently installed is 9.0.0.2330. The SR No is VDE101129-01. According to Dafyyd's post, this isn't the latest full build version (2701). So, which patch / download should I go for, please, to bring PD 9 bang up to date? You will understand that, having re-stalled PD 9 successfully and with everything appearing to be working fine (although I'm still at the editing stage, haven't yet had time to produce and burn to a disk), I don't want to do anything to screw things up now, especially after all the bother I've had getting to this point.

Adrian's post discusses apparent difficulties with WaveEditor. My WE appears to be working fine. Is any attempt to bring PD 9 up to date likely to create the "peculiarity" to which he refers?

Finally (for the time being, at any rate!) I have a question re a dialogue box that pops up on screen each time I open an existing project, ie:

"Would you like to merge your project's Media Library files with the current media files in this library?"

Should I click "Yes" or "No" here? I have always clicked "No", but what should I be clicking? The User Guide doesn't say.

Thanks again, everyone, for sticking with me on this. I do very appreciate all the helpful input I have received to date.

Sorry, Dafydd, I really should read your guides first! I do apologise.

I can see the patch for 2702. However, the question re WaveEditor is still relevant, and I don't want to download 2702 until I get advice on the point. If my current build / version of PD 9 indicates that I have a fully-functioning WE, I should be OK, but grateful if you (or Adrian) would kindly confirm.

Thanks again.

The issue with WE was, I believe, somewhat random and probably related to a failed/corrupted uninstall/reinstall, hence the particular cleaners released by CL.

Installing a patch on a fully functioning release should be fine, my point was only that there may be circumstances where the application of 2702 does not cure a missing WE as WE is not included in it so, in that regard, 2702 is not wholly cumulative, so to speak.

Cheers
Adrian

Thanks Adrian, I kind of figured that's what you meant but I just wanted to be sure.

Kind regards.

I am sure there are only two situations where this box will pop up.
1 - If you have 'Load sample files....' or 'Load Last Project....' selected in preferences. You will be asked this when you open PD then go to open project.
2 - If you are working on one project, then decide to switch to another project.

You have to decide if you want or will need the files in the current project in the next project you are opening. Be aware that if you do select 'Yes' there may be unwanted effects to the project being opened if both projects are using/sharing media.

If you uncheck the preferences in #1, then you will only see this message if you change from one project to another. Selecting 'No', as you have been doing is what I choose 99.9% if the time.
