Your sample video actually has no video.... How long is the video in question that you showed us already? What size is that file?

Walenco -

The Sanyo VPC-GH2 HD shoots AVC H.264 files with an .mp4 file extension. I have a Sanyo that records in the same format. PD has no trouble with these files. You mentioned that you thought there may be a compatibility problem - there isn't.

What you need to do is:
1. Pick up the Sanyo VPC-GH2 HD & turn it on
2. Walk outside & record about 10 seconds of video
3. Transfer that 10 second clip to your PC
4. Don't do anything with it (like produce it)
4. Just attach it to a reply in the forum

People can then test a raw file from your camera.

Cheers - Tony

Hi walenco,
I've quoted Tony's post because it reflects exactly what I would have written. I to have a Sanyo producing an .mp4 file!

I see you've attached a produced .mpg file, something that wasn't asked for.

Please stop wasting members time and provide the information requested or they are likely to leave this thread and assist others who respond with correct data.

Woo Hoo! Walenco -

The good news is that there's nothing wrong with your .mp4 clips. I imported "April 26 001.MP4" into PD9 with no problem. It also played properly in 3 different media players I tested.

The agitated squirrel displayed correctly, with no colour artefacts or other display issues.

It would appear that there's something amiss in your set-up, causing the "background colour" problem you've described.

I'm not the best person to ask. It's really a question for someone a bit more technically inclined.

The first things I'd do would be to:
1. Make sure the latest version of QuickTime is installed.
2. Update graphics card drivers from the manufacturer's site
3. Install FFDShow - an often recommended codec pack.

Ok I had no problem playing it either. Good video, I could just about make out the reflection in the glass too.

Now we need your system specs. Read below and provide us with Part B.

Thanks..........

walenco ...

Thanks... I did not see anything that would normally jump out in front of you. I did not see FFDSHOW installed. I cant remember if there has been any issue between PD and Nero.

After some of the real system savvy guys have a look at it something might get their attention.

Hi Guys ,

Maybe I should explain more of what my problenm is :

Once I drop a fresh video into the timeline for editing , the preview box displaces the video with the green background in a sort of edit mode with a big square around the whole video with a circle and within that circle is a cross in the middle . Maybe someone will eventually figure out what is wrong with my setting . Thanks

Walenco -

FFDShow can be downloaded at http://www.free-codecs.com/download/ffdshow.htm - I'd download and install that first, to see if your issue is corrected.

If you go to http://support.acer.com/us/en/product/default.aspx?modelId=2127 you'll find all the latest drivers for your Acer Aspire 5745.

** There may be some advantage in uninstalling your current chipset driver before installing the latest version. Go to Control Panel > Device Manager > Display Adapters... right click on your display device > Properties > Driver tab - select Uninstall. When you restart your PC, the original driver will be reinstalled... then you can install the downloaded version.

Given that there doesn't seem to be any problem with the clips from your camera, the issue must be how your PC is reading them in PD.

Walenco;
With only 128MB of dedicated Video Memory, there will be problems with video. Granted, the intel CORE processors are handling things differently, but just a caution for you.

Once I drop a fresh video into the timeline for editing , the preview box displaces the video with the green background in a sort of edit mode with a big square around the whole video with a circle and within that circle is a cross in the middle .

The "bullseye" (that cross and circle stuff) is a normal function when viewing "clip mode" in PD9.
