Moving video files to a new location after importing and editing them in powerdirector?

Hi - I went overseas for 3 months this year and took about 100 gb of video footage which I transferred to my computer. I started editing the footage but my computer is running REALLY slow because of how much space the files are taking up, I have backed them up to a desktop hardrive, and want to use this as the file location while I am editing my videos. Now, if I copy the powerdirector save file to the desktop hardrive, delete the video files from my computers C:drive, will I be able to reassociate the save file with the files that are now on my desktop hardrive? Will this cause any problems or should it work ok? Any advice would be much appreciated.

When PowerDirector doesn't find the clips you should be given the option to locate the files. Before you delete them, try putting them in a folder. That will confuse PD and allow you the option of finding them also. Look for the copy that you intend to keep. If that works, you can safely delete the unneeded copies.

You can also package the whole project from within PD, but you would probably need enough empty space to make a copy of the clips. __________________________________

It would be a good Idea to Pack Project of the finished projects so that everything will be in one folder.
You can then transfer that folder to any external hard drive.

Original material should be only those files you are working on at the time on your Powerdirector computer.

External hard drives are large capacity and are low cost. They are great for unloading your working computer.
