Every BD-R disk works perfectly, burnt @ 8x speed so it's not Cyberlink's fault, nor Sony's BD-Rs or Buffalo's, this only happens with TDK's BD-RE at aproximately 89% (20 GB, give or take some MBs).

TDK says it's ultra-compatible and that it has an excellent Hard Coating...

Here's Cyberlink's Power2Go log on Windows 7 64-bit:

Power2Go Help --> About --> CDS090901-01 (bundled Blu-ray Disc Suite) registered about 2 years now.
BUFFALO Serial-No. 15542700206174 BR-X816U2-EU

I have burnt several Memorex BD-Rs and TDK BD-Rs with success and have been using Sony's DVD+RW and TDK's DVD+RW for years and never had any issue or problems.

I will try to burn a Memorex or a Sony BD-RE next time.

#EDIT#

This was the first and last time I initialized a BD-RE using ImgBurn. I only used it 'cause of the excessive verbosity. I was simply curious about what happens to a BD-RE when it is being formatted.

I don't know whether Packet or DAO or TAO or SAO is the way to go.

I just think, in my humble opinion, that P2Go could be a bit more verbose in the process of doing things or at least have a "Basic/Advanced" display pane option while it is burning disks. Just a thought...

So today I quickly erased the (faulty?) TDK BD-RE on P2Go and recorded successfully 19.2 GB of data (20,645,359,616 bytes on disk). I'm now afraid that if I ever need to burn more than 20 GBs on the same TDK media, it will just fail like before.

In order to provide the busTRACE log and to reproduce this exact error I would need to re-burn the same data, which is no longer available. I split it in 20 GB on the TDK BD-RE, and the rest on a Sony DVD-R, both now archived and the source erased.

What I can say is that the TDK's BD-RE was successfully initialized in a Vista x86 machine, but started giving errors about 88%, 89% of the process, in the same OS, first with ImgBurn 2.5.5.0 and then with P2Go 6.0.0.3311. The last successful burn (19,2 GB) was in Windows 7 x64 with P2Go 6.0.0.3311.

The (faulty?) TDK BD-RE will no longer be used (as I read that damaged sectors can no longer be recovered by formatting), and I will now purchase a Memorex BD-RE or a Sony BD-RE and will use P2Go (for data) and PowerProducer (for images) as the only burning software. I will keep buying TDK BD-Rs though; I just wanted to post my experience with the TDK BD-RE.

Thank you so much for your kind help.
