That's better than what mine did. I only had the generic blank windows icon after install. Don't try to understand it, just accept it... you are talking about PD after all......

Change the icon. You will find a PDR.ico icon in C:\Program Files\Cyberlink\PowerDirector10\

I like using these too...

Try the bottom one. I loaded it and re-saved it with my icon editor....

Hi Bubba,
Used your icon and it still has the little whatever attached to it...LOL...must be a 'Virus' program thingy..I use Kapersky Pure...

Probably not related to Virus program...related to how the program was installed and permissions set for startup with UAC turned on (I do NOT recommend turning it off).

For example if the program is set to (or installed as) "RUN as Administrator" or only run "for specific user", this can cause it.

Removing it is a bear ...and involves uninstalling the program, flushing the icon cache (a bear to accomplish), and reinstalling.

Another option is a Windows utility to elevate the program permissions:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/magazine/2007.06.utilityspotlight.aspx

Or possibly THIS one:
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/11949-elevated-program-shortcut-without-uac-prompt-create.html

Not sure which works best for you.

Since I made the last post in here, I had to reinstall windows due to an experiment with the partitions on my C drive that did not go well... Thank god for disk image backup, only took about 8 minutes.... but PD10 was not on it then as I only back up the disk images every 15 days........ but I am used to putting my disk images back. I like to play dangerously..... and I never "lose" anything anymore anyway.... don't even get excited when my computer fails to start due to "no loaded OS" anymore.

Anyway this time when I reinstalled PD10 my PDR.ico icon was there on the desktop like it was supposed to be and I did not have to go round one up....
