Hello. Welcome to the forum. Sounds to me like your computer does not have the horsepower to run PD9 or drivers are out of date, the latest version of Quicktime is not installed, or there is some other conflict in your computer.
Please attach a dxdiag file, as explained in the sticky threads at the top of this forum. That will assist us to assist you. We need to try to figure out what the problem might be, so that we can get you going; or, at worst, explain why you won't be happy with PD9 if your computer doesn't have the required horsepower.

I know that it now states PD10, but the requirements are about the same for PD9.
