I run XP Home, SP3,Intel Pentium Dual Core 2.8 Ghz, 3 Gigs RAM and 630 Gbs Free Disc Space.
For the most part of the year I have had a periodical crash at start up of which has also knocked out my sounds volume (I did start another thread on that one a long time ago) but more recently CyberLink found a conflict on my system and modified a PDR.exe for me of which solved the 'knocking out of the sounds volume' problem but the periodical crash at start up remained.
I did notice that alot of the start up crashes happened first thing in the morning when I started up PD9 and then after that all was sweet for the rest of the day .. It felt like some crucial element was perhaps missing from PD9 and that by the 1st crash happening it then, perhaps, put back the element it was missing ?
But anyhow's, I have wondered for some time if PD9 actually 'needs' the PD9 contents in the 'OS Temp folder' to function correctly and I also 'wonder' if deleting the 'apparently' dead entries in the Registry with Glary Utilities has contributed to this start up crash problem ?
I don't know too much about computers but it seems to me that PD9 'might' differ somewhat to other programs I have when it comes to OS Temp files and folders and the Registry ? .. I mean I had 3 Gigs in the OS Temp folder some time ago and after intensive googling I decided that it was okay to ditch it all but I don't do that on a regular basis .. But I used to check the registry on a regular basis and clean the small amount of dead entries I have there ..
But I still had my suspicions that PD9 needs EVERYTHING that says PD9 on regardless of of whether it was a dead entry or not. Even Cyberlink checked my Registry and said it was all okay but I still had my doubts.
So then I upgraded to patch 3305 and ended up with a pile of new problems so I 'RE-installed PD9 using the CL removal tool and put it back to the 2930 build but THIS TIME I didn't delete anything from the OS Temp Folder OR the Registry that belonged to PD9, or indeed Cyberlink.
And..touchwood, for the past wee while my PD9 has NOT been crashing at all at start up and is running pretty damned good for once ..
So I'm kinda wondering if anyone else has noticed this with PD9 and perhaps this 'could' be the issue for start up crashes for 'some' people ?
So from now on I'm not deleting anything from Cyberlink or PD9 or even Power2Go from the registry or OS Temps folder because it seems to affect the software's performance in my case .. Based on my observation over the past few months or so ..(and those registry/temps delete actions don't affect any of my other programs)
Enjoy your day ..
Stephanie.
