Uploading to You Tube from file

My head always spins when I try to understand the confusing myriad of video formats, what's best to use under different circumstances, etc.

On this forum thread:

http://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/16033.page#78695

Robert gives the advice to use AVC with everything pushed up to the max on the customizing tab.

When I try to get more info online, I keep seeing tutes on having to convert AVC files before they can be uploaded to You Tube-- Why use a format that has to go through another conversion to get to You Tube?

I'm not trying to go straight from PD9 to You Tube - I want my produced video on my hard drive, and then one of the things I'll do with it is post it at You Tube.

I'm trying different burn profiles to see what's going to fly - MP4 (doesn't look too good) two different flavors of MP2 (much better) and now I'm trying an AVC burn - I'm just confused about the advice to use AVC when it's looking like those files can't be uploaded as-is to You Tube.--?

Hi,

I've just made 2 examples of rendering to YT in
the post right beneath here : http://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/19253.page

See if you can notice very noticeable differences.

Well now, if there are differences, they're so subtle I couldn't detect them after several viewings. There's the very slightest flicker on the borders when in motion, and the movement as the slides move isn't perfectly smooth in either one.

To me, it's a total toss up.

Meanwhile, after running some tests, I ended up using a high rez MP2 setting for my You Tube upload, and I'm happy with the results. Good enough for me! It's the first thing from PD9 that I've posted online.

It's a music video my wife suggested I put together. It's a song from my stage musical based on "Dorian Gray." The most striking parts of the visuals are from other You Tube posters, notably Terje Sorgjerd who does magic with time lapse photography, "TheUniverseUnfolded" who has a beautiful Solar System vid I borrowed from, and "Spoonexxl" whose "Planet Earth" video was also used. The rest is manipulation of free Corbis images, using fades, opacity levels, a small sprinkling of FX, and a touch of Crazy Talk animation.
