I have just got Media Suite 8 as software with my new burner from my new build.
For years I have used Ulead, Corel, Adobe Encore and others to render and burn Mpeg 2s to DVD (transferred from analogue tapes via Pinnacle capture card)

There was always a render period of about 10 mins before the disc started burning the created DVD files. Now with PD8 it starts burning instantly.(no render period????)

How is this possible???

Its just amazing. This software is way ahead of the others mentioned for my purposes.

Also when rendering output to file all 8 cores on my processor are used.

I'm using Intel 2600k cpu / 120gb Corsair SSD / 8 gb 1600 ram / windows 7 64bit / Asus P8Z68 mobo / nvidia gts 450
graphics card

Thanks
David

Improvement in software technology.

And the fact that your files are already MPEG2. VOB files (DVD) are MPEG2 repackaged into VOB for the DVD players. Carl312: Windows 10 64-bit 8 GB RAM,AMD Phenom II X4 965 3.4 GHz,ATI Radeon HD 5770 1GB,240GB SSD,two 1TB HDs.

Thanks Carl.....
But when I render to file there is a small amount of time spent (not instant)
I'm not complaining..its still really fast!!
Cheers

Most time in creating a DVD is the Menu Creation.
The first 21% you see in the ruler is the menu creation taking place, 21%-100% is the rendering of the files on your timeline. If the files are MPEG2, it is basically copying the timeline video to a VOB format.

On the other hand if your files on the timeline are anything else, it takes a lot longer to render them.

If you have HD files to start with, it takes a very long time to render down to Standard Definition.
So the speed of DVD creation is dependent on the format of the files on the timeline.

Yeah, PD 8 is pretty fast, if you have the computer power.

Aha...I never put a menu on. Only chapter points every 5 mins.
So my Mpeg 2s become VOB files instantly!
Thanks for your explanations Carl... I reckon I will save 16 hours a month rendering with my new system and PD8!!!
All the best
David
