Way to shorten a clip with a "ripple" edit?

As a point of reference, in my prior video software, if you grabbed the end of a clip to shorten it, everything to its right would logically follow suit and compensate. That's a "ripple" edit. In that same software, if you had an occasion to not want the ripple effect, you would hold Alt while shortening the clip.

But I don't think there's something like that in PD9? The preference setting for linking all clips while doing an insert or delete doesn't seem to apply to shortening a clip.

---Is there a way?-- It's really a pain, in an hour and a half project, to zoom out, hope you manage to select all the clips, and then manually move them to where they should have gone in the first place. Ya know?
