BluRay Play not smooth

I am just setting a HTPC.
I am new to the HTPC, buy very experience in PC building.

My system is a LiteOn Blu Ray, AMD Athlon II X4 640, with a ATI Radeon HD 5750 , 4Gigs of Ram, Win 7 Home 64.
Windows Experience Rating is 7.3 (out of 7.6) across the board except my HD is 5.6, but that shouldn't matter.
So I have good processing power.
Running Catalyst 11.8 Video Drivers, on a 46" LCD Sony at 1920 x 1080

I am running PowerDVD 10 at 1080P, 5.1 Doby.

Questions
DVD play is perfect; but my Blu Ray play has slight video pauses.
Would PowerDVD 11 fix this? (going try the trial ver)

I can't help but think my system setup my be wrong.
Isn't there a way to make the AMD CPU and ATI GPU work together to smooth out the video?

PowerDVD 11 did not help. The BluRay play still has slight hesitations...jerky....just slightly, depending on the sceen

I think it's a hardware issue, but I don't know what to do.

I don't think my system is being fully utilized.

Again, I don't think the CPU and GPU are working together to support BluRay.

I'm going to try a slight GPU overclock...
Thanks,
Bill

What blu ray disc are you playing?

Have PowerDVD running windowed and open up your task manager - have a look at your CPU utilisation - what's the first core doing?

Ok.

A slight Overclock of the Video Card smoothed out the hesitations.
Not all gone, but most.

I didn't overclock much. Just what Catalyst AutoTune came up with.

I may push the Video Card a little more...

I wondr if I push the CPU slightly, the combination will do the trick. Thanks,
Bill

"What blu ray disc are you playing?"

I am playing Avatar BluRay on a Liteon iHBS212

My over all CPU usage is betwen 7 and 14% and the First CPU is showing very low usaage. In fact non of the CPUs go above the bottom horz line, and CPU 1 is the least active. Thanks,
Bill

More info.
If I play a DVD I get smooth video.
But when I play BluRay I get slight video hesitations.

I ran a DVD and looked at my system usage through Task Manager.
CPU Usage was 20% and Ram nearly 2GB, and the video play back was smooth.

Yet when I play BluRay, my system usage is much LOWER, CPU 6% and Ram 1.3GB.

More system resources are given to DVD play than BluRay, yet my BluRay play is less smooth.
.............Why? Thanks,
Bill

I am convenenced that this is a hardware issue.
My Blu-Ray drive isn't doing the job.

I'll need to research the best drive before I spend any more money on this rig.

Thanks,
Bill
