Glow Effect For Images Instead of Text

If you select the Title Room tab and select 'Glow' you will see a preview of some text with a cool glow effect.

My question is this: How can I do the same thing with an image... like perhaps 'Crown-002'?

Thanks!

Hi

In the Effect Room insert the Glow Effect and shorten the effect to say 1 sec.

By double clicking the Effect you can adjust the Blur Radius and Glow Level.

I appreciate the help, however the problem with that technique is that the effect is limited to the 'outline' of the object. In other words, the inside of the object glows, but not the outside (where the transparency is).

Hi there -

Neil's advice was good.

It's how you set the keyframes for blur radius & glow level that affect how much glow you get.

I hope the screen capture attached helps.

Cheers - Tony

You guys are the best. Was that a video from the past or did you just make it? Funny coincidence because I'm making film about religion and I noticed that picture in your library.

Unfortunately, I think I may have accidentally painted myself in a corner here, because as you can see in my example files I actually came up with a way of doing the glow (before my original post)... but via a transition.

The problem was that anytime I put in a background image, the glow wouldn't work anymore.

Being new at this, I thought maybe there was a better way.

The most frustrating part is that I really love how the glow looks in my example file. It's just what I wanted... but again there can be no background.

Maybe I can export it and re-import it to add the background via chroma key? If so, how can I export as lossless?

Thanks!

IntegratedConsultants -

I just tried to apply ChromaKey to a produced file from your project (AVC H.264 1920x1080), and it wasn't very successful. After I overlaid the video on a still background image, the glow became more like a solid blob. YUK!

The difficulty is getting the level right - balancing between the ghosting & the soft edge on the glow. Chroma Key is one of PD's weaker links.

I made that little video (yesterday) just to show what could be done. I had the crown on Jesus' head at first, but decided not to post in case it caused offence. It worked equally well on a background image the way I did it.

Cheers - Tony
