Hi curt y,
The tutorial mentioned, was created in PD8, and is an “option”, of one way to achieve a highlight that is perhaps a bit more interesting, than just highlighting a player with a circle.
But now in PD9, with a whole set of other options available, I would do the highlighting differently. And have been toying with making another tutorial that is PD9 centric, which displays a few different ways that one can accomplish the highlighting of a moving object or person, in the more advanced PD9.
PlayVideo is right. In PD9, using the
“Color” Focus effect, in conjunction with Key Frames, is one way to accomplish a highlighting effect.
Also, this may help.
The same technique as shown in the Censor Blur tutorial linked below (where a moving object or person is blurred out using key frames and masks), is the basically the same technique you would use to create a highlight.
The only real difference is that you would use the
Color Focus effect, instead of the
Blur effect, so that you would have a highlighted moving object or person, instead of a blurred out object or person. Just swap the effects.

Addendum to the Censor Blur tutorial created in PD8 - Demonstrating how to apply the same technique, using PD9’s new slightly different user interface, where key Frames are accessed a little differently than in PD8.
