Recently i imported some short WAV audio clips into PD. They played in windows media player, before the import, and played in PD's preview while file selecting window. But when i'm in the media room and i click on a file and click play, it plays but i don't hear any audio. The real mystery is that once i add the clips to the timeline they play fine.
This isn't really a problem per say because they play in the timeline and produce fine but i was just curious if anyone knew what was causing this.
Thanks,
ClancM

Hi Clancy -

I don't have an answer for your WAV mystery, but I guess we just add it to the growing list of audio goblins in PD9!

There's audio that plays at high speed (the chipmunks/mickey mouse effect)
There's audio that plays at low speed (MP3s)
There's audio that doesn't produce or burn (some SmartSound tracks)
There's audio in video files that plays in the library, but not in the timeline
and now there's audio that plays in the timeline, but not the library!

Yep - and you can bet your last dollar that someone will jump in and say the file is corrupt or it's something you've done or your drivers aren't up-to-date... 'cos it works fine on my machine.

It's supposed to work on EVERY machine!

Any time you want a completely unhelpful response, Clancy, just say the word!

Cheers - Tony

hi,
If I may open my big mouth here. I run windows 7 Premium 64Bit. I also run my sound through the onboard sound (I have a hearing loss in both ear one ear is 'dead' the other is very bad) I allso have a LG monitor. I use HDMI to connect to the monitor and Realtek HD audio manager and connect the output to a Seinhieser amplification device with head phones meant for TV listening, it took me a few experiments in selecting various sound settings for me to hear. My point is that maybe on your system may have to be defined in an audio manager
In sound devices try re-setting your audio to various settings, see if that helps.
