I have imported an .srt into my timeline but cannot enable a subtitles button. First I have made sure that all the "Item 1-2 and 3" options are enabled in menu preferences.

In the final preview all I have for the Items are Play and Scenes. How do I get a SUBTITLES item enabled to viewers of the final DVD production

Make sure you switch the subtitle setting from being printed on the movie and optional. This can be done by clicking a button on the bottom of the subtitle room.
