A few suggestions

Since June of 2010, I have been using PD 9 Ultra to produce a two-hour auto racing show from a local speedway. Copies are sold on DVD, plus the show airs weekly on a local cable channel. The response has been great!

I worked in TV back in the 80's & 90's, so I know that the shows are hardly network broadcast quality. This is a low budget production and I do every aspect of it by myself, including all graphics, original music, etc. However, I am quite happy with the overall end product for the price. Sure, saving your work often is important because it can be unstable at times, but to be fair, I am pushing the envelope. I am editing in video not only from the main camera, but from several cameras as well. This includes a locked down "speed shot" and several HD in-car cameras.

One suggestion would be having a way to finely jog the additional video tracks to synchronize them with the master track. For example, if you could highlight the video that you needed to move forward or backwards a frame at a time with the arrow keys, or some similar method would be wonderful.

My second suggestion would be a pair of Master VU meters for the audio, to better match audio levels between tracks. These two things would make my life so much easier! Seriously though, I am editing one of these shows each week and can tell you from experience both suggestions would be great time savers. Something to consider for the next version.

Other than that, I really am impressed with the bang you get for your buck with this program. I have tried several of the big brand name editing programs and have found this one far more versatile. Keep up the good work!

If you're looking for an excuse to waste some time, you can view a sample of one of my racing shows at: http://www.lap1photo.com/video/l1tv.htm

That is very similar to how I use PD, and I have made the first suggestion a few times. __________________________________

Lap1VideoDave,

I have been in TV production since 1964. I conquer with your suggestions, especially about the VU meters. Having an option to display audio level meters would be a huge benefit, no matter how basic. This would help even-out levels and avoid clipping. Adding Normalization or a Compressor to WaveEditor would also be a huge help.

I too have used many big-name editing programs and PD9 is amazing. It is fun and a pleasure to use! Bill Spicer

I concur fellows.
I can get by without a view meter, though it'd be nice. But a compressor/limiter in Wave Editor would be great. This was requested during PD9 beta testing. Maybe we'll see it in PD10? Click here PDtoots for a collection of PowerDirector Tutorials and Tips

Can't you find a VST compressor to plug-in to WE?
I Googled and came up with several.
However, a meter would be nice, it occured to me there might be a desktop gadet, and sure enough, I found one.

I tried loading the two compressor limiters (I had successfully loaded into my Nero Wav editor), into WE, but they wouldn't nestle in.

Well, I found them, but didn't try them. It's got to be plain old VST, not the other types like VSTi.
