S/PDIF and Windows default audio

PowerDVD 11 will not play through S/PDIF unless I have that set as the default audio output for my system (windows 7). It will however play through the HDMI connection when the S/PDIF is set to default - just not the other way round.

anyone else seen this?

Hi,

did you set S/PDIF in PowerDVD as audio device?

This is a Windows issue and PowerDVD default follow Windows. Will the manual setting of s/pdif in PowerDVD override the current system setting?

For me the S/PDIF settings override the settings in windows 7.
In normal use I use speakers plugged into my sound card and that is my default setting in Windows 7. When I watch a movie on my TV using the same PC (also plugged into AV amp via S/PDIF) I have S/PDIF selected in PDVD11 settings. The sound then comes out of the speakers connected to the AV amp.
When I have exited PVD11 I can carry on at the PC as normal (PC speakers) and not have to change any Windows 7 settings.

I have the same setup, and my Win7 64 PC changes to HDMI output of picture and sound when I turn on the receiver. As I normally want to do most of the time, but nice to have the manual setup ability in PowerDVD.
