I've just got the above camera and I've just started a trial of Power Director 9 deluxe. I connected the camera and started PD but it doesn't seem to be picking up the video I recorded on the camera. Although the only highlighted option in Capture is AVCHD nothing happens. The camera records in AVCHD Lite I believe.

I can't see a way of pointing PD towards the camera SDHC card either. Maybe Power Director is not the right program for me?

Any ideas please?

Read your manual on your Camera on how to transfer video to the computer.

If your camera has an SD card and you have a card reader, you can copy the Stream files to the computer.

You copy the Video to your hard drive then Import the files into Powerdirector in the media library. Carl312: Windows 10 64-bit 8 GB RAM,AMD Phenom II X4 965 3.4 GHz,ATI Radeon HD 5770 1GB,240GB SSD,two 1TB HDs.

OK now, I've got it!

Thank you Carl.
I thought the camera would be able to see the footage on the card and import it. It seems not.

My Canon camera can transfer the video via USB, but PD can not import the video from the camera. I transfer the video files to the computer hard drive, then edit the videos. Carl312: Windows 10 64-bit 8 GB RAM,AMD Phenom II X4 965 3.4 GHz,ATI Radeon HD 5770 1GB,240GB SSD,two 1TB HDs.

It would be nice if there was some sort of 'standardization' of camera behaviour!

Well, in a way there is standardization.

Every camera manufacturer does their own thing.

The closest to standard is recording Video on a Memory card which can then be copied to the hard drive.
Most of the HD cameras record to a SDHC card. Which can be copied to the hard drive via a card reader.

The thing was, I tried Corel Video Studio and Pinnacle Video Spin and they both detected the media on the card and imported it, yet Power Director can't. That was what I meant about standardization!
