Ugrading from Beta

I was a beta tester and now have downloaded the full version (thanks!). However, should I uninstall the beta before installing the full version?

This also brings up another question that is slightly related - where are changes to photos saved? Are they saved to the photo itself or some central database in the program? Will a simple backup of my photos retain the edits, or will uninstalling the program lose my data?

second question
saves it to the library along with the original you imported
picture on the screen keeps the adjustments
if you go to bottom right (export) you can save to any drive or folder you wish.

I would like an "official" statement from Cyberlink advising us whether or not we need to uninstall the BETA version prior to installing the full version.

Cyberlink forum moderators, please?

Hi Janice -

This is not an "official" statement (sorry)... it's just my preference when installing a newer/different version of any software or re-installing software that's not functioning properly... I'm not saying it's necessary to do this.

I use dedicated uninstaller software (Revo or similar) to completely remove the previous version, before reinstalling. That way, all registry footprints are removed. The Programs & Features in Control Panel doesn't do this.

Maybe an "official" CyberLink statement will pop up soon.

Cheers - Tony

I went ahead & installed the full version. While doing so, a dialog box came up noting another version of PhotoDirector 2011 was found & would I like to uninstall it. Of course, I indicated yes.

Just FYI for anyone else wondering.

Per request, here comes the official statement:

If you have PhD Beta installed, just double click on the full build's installer. The full build installer automatically detects an earlier version (Beta) is installed and asks if you would like to uninstall the old one. Just say yes and the full build installer will remove the old build and installs the new build.

Regards,
Brandon

To answer microwave's question - I manually uninstalled the Beta version then installed the full version. The photos I had been working with and the ones I had exported were still there.

I've relocated this comment to "Importing individual photos"
