Ater installing update 2930

After installing update 2930, I produced an existing PDS file on my computer and it stopped in the middle of the production. Had to ctl/alt/delete to close program. I then tried another PDS file on my computer and ran into the same problem. Un-installed PD9 completely and cleaned registry.
Re-installed PD9 without any updates and tried the same file and it worked flawlessly.
Installed content program and it still worked flawlessly with the same file.
Installed update 2930 and this time it is working properly.
I don't know what the answer is on these updates. I had been running the programs without any updates installed and it seemed to worked OK. It seems like it is hit and miss when in the past I tried to install any of the Cyberlink updates.
I wish I could get a definitive answer on what is going on.
I have a very fast and robust computer with the latest updates. Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit
AMD Phenom ll X4 Processor 3.2ghz (4 CPUs)
ATI Radeon HD5670 1gb
8.00 gb Memory

Hey FloridaGator,

how did you "clean the registry"? Did you use a specific program for that?

I used the Cyberlink registry cleaner. I also went into the registry and made sure all of the PD9 software entrys were deleted.
As I said in the post after I re-installed PD9 without any updates the files I produced to MP4 worked OK.
And then when I installed the 2930 update, it then worked OK. Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit
AMD Phenom ll X4 Processor 3.2ghz (4 CPUs)
ATI Radeon HD5670 1gb

Are you referring to CLCleaner? __________________________________

Yes. CL Cleaner. I understand that this cleans the registry of the PD9 files. I ususally go into the registry(regedit) and do it manually. I am willing to try anything to get this program to work. I am tired of un-installing, re-installing.
In the past I was afraid to install any new updates as I didn't know what would happen. For a long time I didn't install any updates, but I decided to try 2930.
The program now seems to be working OK after doing the un-install and re-install the program and the 2930 update. Got my fingers crossed.

Hi floridagator -

There are so many fingers crossed in this forum, it's a wonder anyone can type at all!

The confusion about the cleaner thing is that there's one called CLCleaner http://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/15688.page#76449 and another called CCleaner (formerly known as CrapCleaner) http://www.piriform.com/CCLEANER - the first is specifically for CL products & the latter is a more general cleanup tool.

Cheers - Tony

My Cyberlink PD9 is running very smoothly now with 2930 update installed, Haven't had one crash and have been doing some heavy editing with MP4 files. No problems with producing in any format, so I am a happy camper now.
As I indicated in the post I had a problem when I first installed update 2930 with producing in any format hanging up.
After doing a full un-install and removing PD9 from registry and re-installing the program with update 2930, I have not had any problems. Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit

Confirmed. PD9 needs to be fully removed using the control panel and then installed again from scratch using the new update. Simply updating the older version does not appear to clean out all the sloppy software code left behind. I've seen this to be the case with the last 2 updates. With a clean instal PD9 works well.

I just wonder if all of the users that are having problems with PD9, did as I did and do the following.

Use Windows program un-install to un-install PD9 from the computer. This includes Photo Now and Wave Editor.
Remove PD9 from the registry manually or use Cyberlink CL Cleaner.
Re-install basic Cyberlink Power Director 9 on their computer with the content program.
Then install the update 2930.

I found that after I did this I can't find problems or crashes in editing or producing.
Just a thought! Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit

Everyone does not need to uninstall / reinstall PD9 just to add the 2930 update patch.

I installed the patch and everything is still running fine. Yes I would recommend when uninstalling both wave editor and smart sound while doing it. I uninstall those first then PD.

I was not suggesting that everyone needs to un-install PD9 to install 2930 patch.
After I installed the patch I could not produce a file without it hanging up in the middle of the production.
I had to do the un-install to get my program to work.
If your program is working, then fine you are the lucky one, but if you are one of the unlucky ones then maybe you need to try other things.
I certainly hate having to un-install and re-install this program to get it to work. It is now working great after I did the complete un-install and re-install. I had no choice as my program did not work!!!

Hi,

I think Bubba was addressing HDedit.

The uninstall/reinstall of PD and then applying an update patch is an unnecessary task for most users.

Always an "however", I have had reports of an imperfect applying of the patch 2930 which has required PD to be uninstalled etc.

On my PC, I have not needed to uninstall PD9.

No need to re-install PD9 here. Simply applied the 2930 patch, and all is fine.
[ Well, so far anyway ]

I echo what Dafydd, Bubba, and Cranston have said. Installed 2930 and it seems to be working just fine without a PD9 reinstall, which I have never done. There was a hiccup with SmartSound reporting a library update failure after the 2930 patch was installed and I had to "kill" SS from the Task Manager. After that, SmartSound "seems" to be working fine. I am still holding my breath though. Working on a long DVD-SP of a two hour VHS conversion to .mpeg2 and will insert some SmartSound clips to see what it does. Before 2930, some SS clips worked; others didn't. I have already inserted one and produced, and it played, so it looks promising ...

If SS fails again, I will post. At least now I have SonicFire Pro 5, so I can export .wav files of the duration that I want and import them into PD9. A workaround, I know, but it works, even if it takes longer.

Have a great day.
