Man..this should make a few people happy!!
Click on the name POWERDIRECTOR in the program and see if you are running 9.0.0.2930

If not, and you are having trouble with PD9..GO GET THE UPDATE...then try again. Lots of fixes reported in this build
http://www.cyberlink.com/downloads/support/powerdirector/patches_en_US.html

I especially like the part about my OS Login name being in UniCode format causing a BURNING error!!! Who would have EVER guessed THAT!!! Just goes to show you that many things are related to errors..not just what you think!!!

Thanks, downloading it now. If all of those fixes work, this should solve a lot of problems we have been seeing here in the forums. __________________________________

Fred thanks a million for letting us know about this update! The Cyberlink Support page ( http://www.cyberlink.com/prog/support/cs/index.do ) still doesn't show any recent updates for PD9. I'll go get it right now.
Thanks again!

Transition time adjustment and loads and loads and loads and loads of other stuff that WAS reported by the Beta testers 12 months ago AND should of been included

At last a product that might live up to the expections it advertises.

Still no support for SVRT and the Sony 2011 camera range. I only gave CL the sample footage 3 months ago - what a joke.

Hi:
If the following helps:

Updates:
1. Now supports hardware encoding with 2nd Generation Intel Core Processor (Sandy Bridge) platforms when outputting interlace video in the MPEG-2
/ MPEG-4 / H.264 format
2. Now allows for users to set a default transition type in preferences.
[More Info] The default transition type is overlap before v2702. In v2930, we allow user to change the default transition type in preference dialog.
3. Now allows users to delete media on the timeline and leave a gap.
[More Info] User can delete a clip, then keep the position of all clips in this track. (Hot Key: Shift+Del)
4. Now supports PS3 profile output.
5. Adds an i-help button in the Produce window to inform users about AMD Media Codec (also known as AVIVO package) when using an AMD VGA, but
AVIVO is not installed.
6. Improves the text editing behavior in the Title Designer.
[More Info] To rename title text (Hot Key: F2)

Issues Resolved:
1. Users not able to crop a 4:3 clip into a 16:9 aspect ratio in the 16:9 project environment.
2. Facebook's authentication URL is not the latest, so some user's cannot upload videos successfully.
3. Transparency in the PiP Designer is not correctly applied based on user’s setting.
4. PowerDirector causes some user's software to involuntarily reach the codec activation limit.
5. Incorrect frame displayed during seek in preview window on 2nd Generation Intel Core Processor (Sandy Bridge) platforms.
6. Audio volume output not synchronized with the volume adjustment of imported SmartSound audio.
7. The error ntd.dll pops up when using slideshow.
8. A burning error (code eEB021881) occurs when a user’s operating system login name is in Unicode format.
9. All of the PiP effect attributes are not saved correctly to templates.
10. The program stops at 10% and displays the eC0030011 error code, when burning a project (with menu template) to a DVD folder/disc.

You can now drag a transition from both ends...but (always a but),

Drag an OVERLAP to 10 seconds (or approx).
Switch it to CROSS
Switch back to OVERLAP, in both cases the transition length changes to default length.
Not sure if that is by design.

Must drive 'em nutty at CL to put out this most highly anticipated patch, and hours into it we're already finding flaws.

Still can't produce 720p .mp4.

2330 does so without any issues, 2504 doesn't, 2702 doesn't, 2930 grinds to a halt (seemingly randomly ) then when rendering is cancelled, No CPU activity, PD just sits there on the production screen until killed off.

But, excitingly, it does seem to produce a perfect final video up to the point it went to sleep. In theory I could end up with a final video made up only of the bits rendered by PD, a sort of system generated video, where my editing input is modified and processed by the PD AI engine to give an arm's length production - a bit like a monkey painting, I suppose.

My next suggestion to CL is to come up with a game based PD killer where at least I can have some fun blowing PD off the screen, bit by bit, rather than boringly using End Process? in Task manager.

Back to the future with 2330.

Cheers

CL's servers STILL SUCK...... You get better download speed from porn sites (not that I would ever know)

You would think if it drove them nutty they would fix it before it shipped.... but that would spoil their track record...

Seniors;

Although this started out as a good thing (with longtime users stating what ongoing problems this patch FIXED), this thread has degenerated into a real DRAG/DOWNER!!! I would expect the Senior Contributors to be more supportive of the user community...not "nay-saying" and pointing out things like "Did you know if you press <Ctrl><alt><F11><Shft><2><Enter> that the program will STOP??"

Moderator, please lock this whine session!!! I suggest a new forum entitled "Longtime Users of the program still finding BUGS" so we can collect all these comments for CL review. Not that they don't have value (they do)...just not HERE! (my opinion)

Still can't produce 720p .mp4.

That's curious. I used the last update to produce several 720p MP4. I'll try this release when I get home tonight. __________________________________
