Extending the duration of transitions -
[Post New]
Hi There,

I am trying to extend the duration of transitions within a project by clicking on the transition and adjusting the duration however the programme doesnt want to do it. I have tried to adjust all transition individually to 5 seconds however when I click the "green tick" button it reverts back to 2.13 seconds or something similar. It wont accept 5 seconds.

Is this a programme fault/bug or am I doing something that PD6 wasn't meant to do, although I cant see any obvious reason why it shouldnt do it.

Try it yourself....maybe my experience is unique. I'm here for a good time, not a long time.

Hi Brian,

I believe that the length of the transition is governed by the length of the smallest clip in your video. The length of the transition will not exceed 50% of the length of your smallest clip.
There is a post on the forum where this has been asked before, but I cannot remember how long ago.
Anyway, check and see if that makes sense.

Robert is right. It works like this. PD6 takes 50 % of the smallest clip duration as transistion time.

You can however set the default durations in preferences, but, the above stated rule will override the preference setting.

Hi Babdi,

Altering preferences only changes the default setting of the transition it does not change the "50% rule".

Example.
Place aquarium.mpg into the timeline twice
Open Transition section
Go to Edit/Preferences and select Edit
Alter the default transition to 15 seconds click OK
Return to transition section
Place the Fade transition
Drag and drop it between the aquarium.mpg
Note the length of the Fade is only 10 seconds and as the aquarium.mpg are 19.24 (PAL) long...it sort of works out.

Robert's posting remains correct.

LOL. I guess we are speaking the same thing differently. The rule stands, either way, 50 % of the smallest clip is transition time. PC specs :
