Credits Run As Movie Plays

First of all, this is not exclusive of PowerDVD Utra 7. I had PowerDVD 7 installed prior to upgrading to Ultra and it did the same thing. Here is the deal:

I begin watching a movie (in this case, Lord of the Rings, The Two Towers-Extended Edition). While the Prologue (where Gandalf fights the Balrog) is running, There are credits in the center top of the screen flashing:

Philippa Boyens, Writer...Peter Jackson/Director/Producer/Writer...Fran Walsh, Writer/Producer, etc.

Then, after the Title screen and the movie actually begins, every time a major character is on screen, their name followed by their character name flashes on screen:

John Rhys-Davies, Gimli...Sean Astin, Sam...Elijah Wood, Frodo...Billy Boyd, Pippin...Dominic Monaghan, Merry...Viggo Mortensen, Aragorn, etc.
And when no major characters are on screen, it repeats the first credits, over and over again (Philippa Boyens, Peter Jackson, Fran Walsh, etc)

I have made sure there are no changes to the Configuration (no Subtitles, Closed Captions, etc).

I am at my wit's end. It is damn distracting, I must say.

Has anyone out there experienced the same or similar?

Kim

You are not the only one out there with this problem. On my system, it is only with the LOTR Extended DVD's that I have this problem. I have a different problem with other DVDs where the subtitles turn on and off by them self. Do you have this problem too?

If I pause the movie, say to go get refreshment, or answer Nature's call, the subtitle function is sometimes, but not always, turned on, when I unpause the movie and continue watching. Although annoying, this is easily fixed; not so the credits running during playback.

NOTE: Since I received my HD-DVD/Blu Ray drive (LG model GGC-H20L) I have not had either of the above problems. Will keep you all posted should they arise.

I have exactly the same problem. I'm using PowerDVD 7.3 BD Edition that was bundled with my new LG Blu-Ray combo drive, Windows Vista O/S. The credits appear at the top of the screen while the DVD plays (Fellowship of the Ring, extended version). When I play the same DVD with Media Player, no credits appear.

Is there a fix for this annoying problem?

Thanks,

-Stuart-
