For the hearts, you need to create a "frame" and then import the frame so it becomes available for selection in the frame list. The frame is about the only user object that can be forward of the placeholders. The frame can be max 512x512 pixels. You will have to use graphic software to create the frame with transparent areas for the videos to show through on the Titles and Chapters menus. In your case the frame would be the hearts. You may need to create 3 frames, one for each heart, and then carefully arrange them in the title designer. Save the graphics in PNG format 32-bit. You will also need to create a matching background that the hearts can blend with.

In the Title Designer is an icon to load the background, and there's buttons to import frames and highlighters and masks.

However, on the Root Menu, there aren't any placeholders, so you need to create a video in PowerDirector that you will use as the background for the Root Menu. You will have to use graphic software to create the overlay with transparent areas in the hearts. Then "overlay" that on other tracks with the videos you want showing through. Produce that, and then import that in the title designer as the background for the Root Menu.

Hope that gives you enough to go on. It may not be exactly what you need to do, but are the kinds of things you have to do.

There's probably tutorials on Cyberlink's web site and on YouTube about creating menus in Cyberlink PowerDirector 9 that can give you other ideas.

That's good. I forget to mention that you may need to create a menu from scratch, as some of those placeholders in existing templates can't be moved around so you can position them where you want. The best things about PD9 are:

All the extra PIP tracks and you can put anything anywhere you want it and you can layer anything anyway you want it....
