How do you add a fading photo beside the video?

I have a veritcal video that I have set to show centered vertically. There are black spaces on each side and this is for a reason. I would like to have photographs of different products fade in and out on the side and the person proceeds to talk about them, but I cannot find where to control the second image (.jpeg image) How can this be done? I have gotten the photograph in, usining PiP, but I have a feeling that's the wrong way because there are no tools to control the fading. How can I do this?

To start add another PIP track.

Put your Video in the Main track.
Put one photo in PIP 1.
Put the other photo in PIP2.

You may have select each PIP track and Modify to make the photos fit where you want them, In the Modify PIP you can uncheck maintain aspect ratio and stretch the photo to fit.

Each PIP track has to be modified separately.

An example (Very Rough) is attached.

To make a PIP Track fade in and out, you use the Modify PIP track dialog, add/edit Motion for PIP track.
See short video.

I have only have one photo fade in and out. It is in PIP track 1. The photo in PIP track 2 is not set to fade.
PIP track 2 runs out after 5 secs, therefore the photo disappears.

Modify Motion pip track Keyframe.jpg shows the PIP modify dialog.
