Data Transfer Speed

Does anyone know how to increase the "data transfer speed" in a computer? My Windows Experience Index is at 5.9, because of the lowest sub score on my PC; that being the "hard disc transfer speed"which is 5.9. The processor, RAM, and graphics scores are 7.8 and 7.7 with an experience index top score being 7.9 I have 3 hard drives set up as C:OS/Apps, D:media, E:project files. I realize this is not a PD question, but it does affect how PD runs when video editing. Thanks for any advice!

To test your hard drive speed, download "HD TACH".

Search for it on Google. Cyberlink does not allow Links to software not approved by Cyberlink.

The hard drive is a common speed bottle neck. If the hard drive is using DMA transfer, it is as fast as it can be.
If your hard drive is SATA, then they are doing all they can do.

Run the Hd Tach test and get some real answers.

Carl, I finally got around to downloading HD Tach. I had to use windows compatability mode as there is not a windows 7 version. Here are the readings on my drives; C: Average Read Speed 105.0 Mbs, D: 116.0, E: 115.0. The Random Access speeds were 7.7ms, 12.7, 13.3. Any thoughts? Thanks

Elwood Blues, I think you have fast drives.

My drive Has an average read of 72.3 MB/s
The sequential read starts at 90 MB/s tapers down to about 40 MB/s

Random Access 14.8 ms.

It is a 500 GB drive partitioned into 4 partitions. Which is not a good way to do a 500 GB drive.

I see a new SATA hard drive in my near future. Carl312: Windows 10 64-bit 8 GB RAM,AMD Phenom II X4 965 3.4 GHz,ATI Radeon HD 5770 1GB,240GB SSD,two 1TB HDs.
