This is about PowerDirector Ultra 8.

I know how to restore Smart Sound on purchased music by going to Smart Sound and entering your order number. That works well.

I would like to know if anyone has ever been successful restoring purchased smart sound music from a backup of the Smart Sound folder.

If so, what was your method. Details please. Carl312: Windows 10 64-bit 8 GB RAM,AMD Phenom II X4 965 3.4 GHz,ATI Radeon HD 5770 1GB,240GB SSD,two 1TB HDs.

I have had no issues, but I back up the entire folder group, then over-write the existing.
Tell me, what happened? Did that nasty dialogue box ask you during a re-install cycle about Quicktracks, and you hit YUP!?

PD9 skips that question, thankfully.

None of those things.

I did a restore of my computer and in the process, my purchased music was not restored.

I did the Smart Sound reload process and got my purchased music loaded. There is a instruction on how to restore your purchased music on Smart Sound support.

I was hoping for a local backup method where I did not have to go via SS re-load. Carl312: Windows 10 64-bit 8 GB RAM,AMD Phenom II X4 965 3.4 GHz,ATI Radeon HD 5770 1GB,240GB SSD,two 1TB HDs.

Without backing up the folder group...you're screwed.
It's a common mistake, but very preventable.
Not so bad if you only bought a few tracks, but I've got 7 or 800 SS files, re-installing from the actual discs, and re-downloading internet purchases would be a killer. HP Envy Phoenix/4thGen i7-4770(4@3.4GHz~turbo>3.9)

Carl -

I'd hate to admit in public how many hours I've wasted re-installing my bunch of SmartSound discs... till Barry informed me, through his tutorial, about doing a back up of the whole folder (SmartSound Program Data).

Yep - he's one crafty crustacean!

Cheers - Tony

Tony,
I have to agree with you, Barry had the answer.

Somebody gave a link to the smartsound tutorial, but I don't see that post anymore. Carl312: Windows 10 64-bit 8 GB RAM,AMD Phenom II X4 965 3.4 GHz,ATI Radeon HD 5770 1GB,240GB SSD,two 1TB HDs.

To be accurate, when I buy a new track, I don't re-back-up the whole group, I just browse to my SS files, find my new purchase, and copy it to my back-up folder. Once-in-a-while, though I will do a complete fresh copy of the group.
