Help help my effects change within the clip? They intensify to the middle, then de-intensify?

I want to apply an effect such as blur to an entire clip and I want the blur to be the same throughout the clip. Whether I insert it in the video timeline or in the effects timeline it starts out un blurred and gets extremely blurry in the middle and then de blurs completely at the end. It would seem like this would be a somewhat obscure option and not the default as it is for me. Right clicking and choosing 'Edit' does not lead me to a solution.

I did get a suggestion to "edit it in the key effects" which seems to mean I'd need to add a PIP timeline that somehow overrides the main video line? I tried it anyway and couldn't make it work either.

Thanks in advance for any help

Hi Babette

When you have found your desired 'blur' use the 'apply to all' button and this will 'set' the blur to your choice.

Good luck Happing editing

Best Regards

Hi Babette,

Neil explains it pretty well. Take a look at this short clip and it will show you what he means.

Hi Babette,

In case you ever find that you'd like to blur just a portion of your video, here's another tutorial that might help.

Thanks everybody. I never noticed those buttons on the bottom of that dialog box...they sort of look like they belong to the main interface and not to a separate dialog (is my excuse). Oh and thanks for that traveling blur video. I'm gonna try that too.
