Hi Guys,

I'm wondering if there is a tool in PD8 that can let you cut out background images in a non static video clip?

Basically I have a piece of video that has grass, trees & passing cars in the background that I want to edit so that for all intents and purposes it looks like it was shot against a plain white backround

What I need to do is to cut out the silhouttes of the 4 people involved and place on a white background really which sounds like it might be difficult given the video shot is not a static one?

Any ideas?

This cannot be done, certainly not in PD, nor any NLE in this price-range. HP Envy Phoenix/4thGen i7-4770(4@3.4GHz~turbo>3.9)
Nvidia GTX 960(4GB)/16GB DDR3/
Canon Vixia HV30/HF-M40/HF-M41/HF-G20/Olympus E-PL5.
Tape capture using 6 VCR, TBC-1000, Elite BVP4+, Sony D8 camcorder with TBC.

You can not remove that background in the video,
but you may be able to mask it by overlaying another video in the PIP track.

It may be possible to make a mask in a Photo Editor that has a hole in the middle for the main action.

Some ideas:

it's an extremely tedious process, but i've had a little luck doing this with chroma key. of course your success will depend heavily on the lighting and background/foreground colors.
i made a video of my girlfriend mowing the lawn in hell, by reproducing the original lawn mowing video numerous times removing one color at a time.
using your color adjustment tools to improve contrast etc. and as carl said experimenting with masking techniques will definitely help. And use a color board of a totally unused color for the master track each time so the final take will be easily removed
unfortunately your final produce quality will probably be very degraded, and alot of bleeding colors here and there from multiple adjustments, but if you've got the time and patience to tweek it, it may be usable.
good luck Windows 7-64bit
