Grouped objects don't move in sync.

Since, I am doing more serious work now, I am going through the user manual page by page and trying all the features.

I have started a vernal pool documentary and I have video, sound, music in place.

Unfortunately, I just caught the frogs in a breeding frenzy the last two days and actual up close footage of a spring peeper in action. I need to insert this new footage before the work I have already done.

I group all the objects that are in place and I can move them in sync with the mouse. But when I place objects in front of the work in place and expand their times, the grouped objects don't move over in sync. So when I change the duration of a newly added photo from 3 to 5 seconds, everything in that track moves over 2 seconds, but the media on the bottom tracks don't move even if grouped. I find it odd and now I have reposition everything.

Any solutions here.

Summary:

Grouped object move in syn when dragged by the hand, but don't move in sync when media placed in front of the grouped objects is expanded.

I have not gotten through the whole user guide yet but there must be way to move everything over in sync or to compensate by moving a whole track over by 2 seconds etc. or the same amount the other track got moved.

Just experimenting now:
I can drag them all to the right before inserting but if I don't inserting also un-syncs my media even if grouped.

Thanks

I guess I do not understand the question. I have no problem selecting multiple (grouping) items anywhere in the timeline then moving them en-mass to anywhere I want. If you want the timeline to "snap" you need to check link all tracks in the setting options.

Hi Dave,

If I understand your post, I confirm Bubba's response. If not, please restate the problem?

Pax

Thanks Bubba and Pax. This is all good stuff. And I did consider merging separate projects and using more tracks. I like to try seperate projects.

I'll also experiment with the linked tracks and see the effects. I'm on page 30 of the user guide just 90 more to go.

Just one more problem. I just filmed a salamander cruising around the frog eggs and chomping on them and I have to find a place to put it. Looks like I'm going to do a lot of inserting by the time on done.

And the Bullfrogs haven't even come out of the mud yet.
