AnyDVD HD and PowerDVD 10

I am looking for some support from users that have AnyDVD HD and PowerDVD 10 experience.

I am sick and tired of my Blu Rays having stutters and pauses. I thought i would test AnyDVD HD again to see if i still stutter or pause but I can't even get my blu rays to start playing.

Tried AnyDVD HD 6.7.9.0 Trial with my PowerDVD 10 Ultra Mark II with the build 2701 update for ultra.

So far leave AnyDVD HD defaults, see the pop up about trial, wait for time out and then click continue.

Load Ice Age 3 blu ray, anydvd kicks in, wait and click continue, blu ray starts to play then kicks back unsupported format in drive H:. I tried all 3 of my drives and all the same.

Load Dispicable Me, anydvd kicks in, wait and click continue on anydvd, blu ray starts to play and it just stays a black screen. Looks like PowerDVD crashing to me. Simple restart close all open software and does same thing.

Uncheck the AnyDVD HD so that it is no longer actively checking disks and these blu ray play, but with same problems i think are bad copy protection issues.

Media center powerdvd maybe the issue. Trying powerdvd directly right and got a blu ray playing.

PowerDVD directly no WMC and some blu rays almost play perfect. Will run some more tests later to see if i can get AnyDVD HD working under WMC with PowerDVD.

Maybe I am just having a bad day

Hi Larry,

please check in the advacned BD settings if PDVD is allowed to disable AERO. You may change the setting there and try if it has impact on the playback quality in your environment.

if it does not help please help to post some additional info:

I learned from my PowerDVD 9 Ultra days and windows 7 to only use a windows 7 basic theme on my computer if i wanted to use the software. Since I am running Windows 7 Basic desktop that option is not even available under the advance blu ray options.
I exited the software, enabled the Windows 7 Aero theme, started PowerDVD 10 Ultra, confirmed that option is now in the advanced blu ray options and does have the check to allow it to disable aero. I thought I would try a blu ray again and when the blu ray starts to play it goes to windows 7 basic desktop. I can play the movie like before under the standard powerdvd.
I switch to cinema mode (similar to the WMC powerdvd mode) and i can see it disable the aero again and go to windows 7 basic desktop. I start to see the opening video and then it all switches back with the error message "There is a disc with an unsupported format in drive ( e: )". The best part is I am using the same disc and reader that was working under the standard mode.
I switch back to classic mode instead of cinema, press play again, windows 7 basic theme is applied, disc starts to play.

I am going to give my laptop information this time since I am up to 3 different computers trying to track down various issues with powerDVD 10, blu ray disc, and my hardware. If you need it from my main machine then let me know, but right now it is busy with the family and i will not be interupting them

So far all 3 machines behave the same way so i can't see it being my hardware at this time, but let me know if you cannot reproduce this.

Hi,
the issue is adressed to our RD and there should be an solution in the next patch to come.

The unsupported Disc format is related to the Elby Clone drive installed. We think we found the root cause and work toi fix it

Actually you might have to dig deeper than that. I uninstalled the Elby Clone drive and rebooted. I stuck in my blu ray, I left AnyDVD HD active, and started powerDVD.
I left it in CLASSIC mode and the blu ray started to play.
I switched to CINEMA mode and was greated with the "There is a disc with an unsupported format in drive ( H: )"...
Drive H: is my real blu ray reader with a pressed blu ray in it.
I switched back to CLASSIC and pressed play and was prompted with resume or restart. I resumed and it started playing the blu ray again.

ROFL ok I want to confirm versions...

AnyDVD HD 6.7.9.0 regged or trial?
PowerDVD 10 Ultra 2701 regged or trial?
Windows 7 64 bit SP1 enterprise activated or trial?

I will round a couple different blu rays to make certain they all behave the same way, but what blu ray's did you try?

When I compare the DxDiag 32's I can see that my longplaymce-pc has left over files from my PowerDVD 9 install which was uninstalled. My understanding is those files should not interfere, and based off the longplay-pc computer, which does not have these files, I believe it is working as described.

I will see about a fresh format on a 3rd machine since these 2 machines are not fresh formats.

I confirm the same result. changing between cinema and mode and back causes the same result when using the same set of applications with a home built HTPC using win7 64.

BTW, thanks for the workaround, at least now I dont have to destroy my library.
