Hi.,
Is there anyway to cut out an image from a video so it can be used as a jpeg photo?
thank you Johanne Bee

hi...I found this in the User's Guide (pg 49)

Snapshots can be captured in the following ways:
• in Capture Mode, clicking [camera button] during the playing of live TV, live
Digital TV, a DV camcorder, an HDV camcorder or a PC web cam.
• in Edit Mode, selecting a video clip in the Media Library and
clicking [camera button] on the Preview Window.
• in Edit Mode, clicking [camera button] during the playback of a video clip in
the Preview Window.

Note: You can specify your preferred snapshot image file format in
preferences. See "File Preferences" on page 54 for detailed information.

I didn't explain myself clearly.

I already have a familly video made with snapshots. I need a few of those snapshots for another project. I don't have those snapshots on hand, I only have them in the video.

I am wondering if/ how I can get those pictures out of the video track in PD and use them as jpeg

thank you Johanne Bee

Hi Johanne,

Hope you had a good holiday (last email between us).

The only way to extract an image from a video is to grab it as a snapshot. The original jpeg is not retained unless you specifically add it to a DVD during a build process using Power2Go etc.

In PD6 obtaining a snapshot is easy.... and I'm sure you can do this already.

Hope the image helps.

Dafydd
