Upgrading PD8 to PD9

When upgrading PD8 to PD9 all of my project (pds) files that I had previously created in PD8 and had stored in the Sampleclips folder were deleted by the PD9 upgrade process. Why? These files should be compatible with PD9, so why delete them?

Hi Roger,
Where were these project files located!

The installation of PowerDirector 9 over PD8 will only remove the content in Program Files/CyberLink/PowerDirector. The Program Files directory, where all software is installed to on C Drive is not the place to store or export data to.

If pds files (or other data) are placed where you've indicated, I'm afraid you only have yourself to blame for the situation.

All pds files when using the File > Save project as (or Ctrl+Shift+S) will save items to the Export location you've set in Preferences.

Thanks

Dafydd

Well Dafydd would it not be logical to have a popup prompt advising the customer of the issue before he acted?

Hi Dick,
The matter here is basic PC use regarding where file/data storage should be made. Very basic stuff.
Thanks
Dafydd
