OK - I feel like I must be missing something simple. I've got my project burned to DVD, but no matter what I pick on the sub titles setting...... they are always there

thoughts?

Thanks

Hi

Are the sub titles on your DVD you made in PD or are they on your DVD player?

Not sure I understand the question, but perhaps some more detail will help...

I'm trying to turn the titles off using the menu option that is created by PD9. The one that appears by default when sub titles exist. Not doing anything on the player

I've played the disk back on both my PC and 2 DVD players - there is no difference

Here is the kicker

On the chapters page, where a section of the chapter plays back in the little window..... I can see the subtitles on that!

Is is this a bug?!?!

Hi

Is there any chance of a screen shot of your project?

I believe you are talking about the chapter text. A screen shot would be appreciated Happing editing

Hi,

When you created the subtitles in PowerDirector, there are two types:

- Create subtitles for discs
- Create subtitles imprinted on a video file

It sounds like you imprinted them on the video file, and therefore the reason you can't turn off.

Can you double check if this is what you did? There should be a Subtitles option that says On/Off in the burnt disc menu if you use "Create subtitles for discs"

Regards,
David

P.S. By default, the subtitles are imprinted on the video file, so I am quite sure this is what happened. Click the button in the bottom left of the subtitles panel to set this.

Thanks CLD

You got me started in the right direction. I still think it is some sort of bug tho......

The settings were correct in the individual projects, however when I imported them in the create disk portion of a new project, they where changed from dvd to file type subtitles. It took a bit of messing around but once I realized that the settings were changing I was on my way to fixing it

Thanks

Not a bug, you have to make sure you check the selection before burning. If you add additional projects or video which do not have subtitles, you are changing the parameters of the disc, you need to make sure the correct subtitle option is selected prior to burning.

Well, it may not be a bug, but I'd consider it awkward UI design. It seems odd to me that when working in modules that seem to progress linearly... A,B,C,D..... that I should get to stage D, but still need to go back to stage B to tweak only one of hundreds of options that are available there.

I understand why it is there, but it just seems a little counter intuitive to me

But Hey.... I didn't pay for an Avid :

thanks everyone for the help!

If you have created any videos with the subtitle set to embedded, you will always have subtitles showing.

The only way is the check the setting to create subtitles for DVD in the beginning.

Once you have that happen you don't forget to check the setting.

Actually the steps should be import the videos, place on timeline, switch to Subtitle room, set subtitles to DVD, then import your srt file. Check that all tracks are linked, Edit videos.
