How Do You Label your BD-R Discs?

I realize this isn't a PD9 question so I hope it won't be deleted. I just installed a blu ray burner. Although the burner does Lightscribe, I don't believe blu ray media comes in any of the laser etching versions. Also, everthing I've read says do not affix adhesive paper labels to blu ray discs. What do we hobbiests do short of buying an expensive inkjet CD/DVD/BD labeling printer?

HP Pavilion Elite 410f. AMD Phenom II 1045T (six core), ATI Radeon HD 5570 Graphics Card w/1GB, 8GB memory, terabyte HD, generic multi optical, LG BD burner, both Lightscribe, Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit. Formerly used Ulead/Corel VideoStudio.

LightScribe is very unstable from my experience. I use a marker that is made from marking CD's. It is very light and can be hard to read sometimes. You can use a regular marker, just write on the disc before burning, and if you can, write around the outer edge of the disc as far from the center as possible. this is the last part burned, and if there is a problem it will not effect anything unless the disc is completely full. That said, I have never had a problem doing it this way. __________________________________

I have no knowledge of Blue Ray Disks. I have always used a Canon Pixma IP4300 printer which has a disc printer included to print my white surface printable CDs & DVDs. It does an excellent job, so much so that I went out and bought a second one to have in reserve. I note that since the introduction of LightSribe which I do not like, there are not many printers that include a disk printer. See if you can source a Canon Pixma IP4300

Jamie, I guess I wasn't as clear as I should have been. I'm aware of using markers for labeling discs. It's just odd that after spending all we spend on our equipment (computer, camcorder, software, etc) and all the pride of authorship we have in our projects that we have to produce such a shoddy looking product as a marker-labeled BD disc. It seems to me to be a market niche that is screaming to be filled.

Des, I agree that Lightscribe is greatly overblown. For DVDs I use it only for text labels. Graphics are dull and look like you did something wrong. And you are right; it seems that there were more disc-printable ink jets a couple of years ago. I searched for your Canon but as you said, it is discontinued.

At this point I would gladly use Lightscribe but they just don't make LS BD discs. Very odd situation. Maybe I'll roll the dice and use a paper/adhesive labeler.

Bill

Get any freeware CD lable software, then go down to Wal Mart and get printable peel and stick labels... I use Surething CD labler, but there are tons of them out there. Get a kit that comes with the label press.

Do not waste your time on light scribe.... to basic, too time consuming, too little options.

Or get a CD/DVD printing inkjet printer (I have an Epson) and buy ink printable discs and using that same CD label software you can make very impressive labels or print directly on the CD/DVD. Or the software that came with the printer. Labels or printers that print directly to CD..... either way is fine.

Easy....
